Allowed WVU to score 5 points in the last ten seconds of the game to win by 2.
Preston Knowles bond-head play on par with Buycks at Louisville.
The Lord Giveth and the Lord Taketh Away.
Figures
What a finish.
First ESPN switches off the game with WVU down 3 and a minute to play because they had to make sure we saw tip-off for ND-UConn.
I got to my computer to see a 3 pointer by WVU to cut the score to 69-67. Lou gets fouled and goes 1-2 from the line. WVU hits an off-balance 3 to tie it at 70 with 8 seconds left. Lou rushes a crappy 3 up there and misses, rebound to WVU & a blocking foul is called against Lou 75 feet away from the basket with 0.6 seconds to play. WVU hist 2 free throws to win it 72-70. The foul was a good call - it sucks to end a game on that, but Lou prevented WVU from advancing the basketball and made too much contact. Great finish.
I don't know if that result helps us or hurts us (probably hurts us), but it was a great finish and I always like seeing Lou lose and I especially liked seeing Lou lose a close game that they should have won on the road.
How did it happen?
Makes it impossible for us to get the 8 seed and first round bye.
WV hits a long three with under 10 seconds left to tie it, UL inbounds goes the length of the court, misses a three, rebound comes down to the left side of the lane - WV player goes after it (going away from the basket) and Knowles apparently going after the ball perhaps thinking he can corral it and get off a desperation shot, fouls the WV player 80 feet from his own basket with .6 seconds left and he hits both FT's to win.
Preston Knowles, who killed us, committed a stupid foul 80 feet from the basket with .6 left and a tie game.
Wow, well let's settle in for a 1st round game in beast. Very risky. As jay bilas points out, every at-large and bubble team ends the season with a loss, just hate that we need to make sure ours isn't against depaul, usf or providence.

Yeah, I figured it would hurt us. Oh well, still great to see Louisville lose whenever possible. And to see them lose in the last 20 seconds makes it even better.
I might not make any friends with this statement, but I didn't really think we had a shot at winning the BET anyway, so playing on day 1 isn't that big a deal. We can beat DePaul or USF in NY.
As long as we get the 9 seed and a date with DePaul im fine.
Its an extra win.
No way we lose that one.
Good, I wanted DePaul and the 9 seed anyway. Decent chance if we take care of business.
I don't think it was about winning the BET. It was more about putting ourselves ahead of other Big East teams. A team who gets a bye in the BET is a lock for the NCAA's

That's what I thought last year

Wouldn't know since ESPN switched to the UCONN-ND game with under 2 minutes left after I watched the entire game. Totally unacceptable.

Where do you live? Milwaukee kept it on the Lou/WV game.

fair enough. I just meant that having to play an extra game against DPU or USF probably isn't going to hurt us that badly in the long run. I see where you were coming from though. I think our resume will be good enough if we continue to prevent the bad loss, so win today and the first round of the BET and we'll be fine.

Meh. I think Melvin is hurt anyway.

Chicago switched and it SUCKED. They could have waited and missed less than 4 minutes of the ND-UConn game.

That's on on SD, HD stayed with UL-WVU.
What does MU need to get the 9 spot? And do we know what time that game would tip off Tues?

Chicago. I was cursing the Connecticut bias by ESPN, but apparently it was unwarranted.
You guys all need to start using ESPN3 - they don't switch anything :) Got the quad split screen going now so I can watch ND/Uconn, Gtown/Cincy, and MU women against Pitt in the BET.
If you have access to ESPN3, and hanvn't used it you should give it a whirl. 4 games at once is the best.
(but it also helps if you have a computer hooked up to your TV)

Unfortunately it's the 11:00 am tip on Tuesday. Not sure what has to happen for them to get the 9. I think just losses by UCONN and Nova, and of course an MU win. At this point though, I'd rather they get the 10 and play ta night on Tuesday.

+1...the changes they've made in the last year or so are impressive. Four games at once, a really functional picture-in-picture, etc. I used to get around the blackouts with hotspot shield, but it no longer works for me. Not going to be able to get the MU game today...
