We are a10 playing unlv
I would take that matchup in a second if we could get it.
But we need to win at minimum 1 more game for that to happen. Hopefully we win a few more. ;D
If we win 1 more game we are in the tourney. Although that isnt good, Id still rather be a 11 than a 8 or 9.
Hopefully we end up in the 10 area cuz 2s dont scare me.
Id really like BYU somehow in second round
I would just like to see us beat Reggie.
And win a (few) tourney game(s).
Yeah a BYU team without Davies looks similar to an ND team without Scott
If we would beat BYU without Davies, would that win have an asterisk?

No but a former coach would probably hang a banner over it.
to BYU fans I suppose..
Not sure what the blue ink stands for yet.
The Cincinatti game didn't improve or hurt either team.

Teal on these boards = sarcasm

In the minds of the media and most sports fans....without a doubt.

And clearly no team wants a "mind asterisk" next to an NCAA Tournament win ;)
Remember all of the "mind asterisks" that UW-Madison accumulated on their way to the 2000 Final Four? On, nevermind, neither do I.

Sure you do, you just brought them up. Everyone on this board knows what a walk in the park they got that year and the one they got when they went to the Elite 8 a few years ago and faced three straight double digit seeds.
If you guys truly believe that people won't gravitate on the BYU story and "what if" and "how far" they would have gone fully loaded, you guys are crazy. That will be one of the prevailing stories of the tournament. If they go far, it will be because they overcame the loss of Davies. If they bow out early, it will be because they booted him off the team. No escaping reality, it is what it is.
Christ, how many times do we do it on this very board with "what if DJ didn't break his foot" as the most recent example of many.

So do their Final Four and Elite Eight appearances not count because they have "mind asterisks" next to them?
My point is, everybody remembers how far you go. Few remember the path.

The destination is far more important than the road traveled when you are looking back 5-10 years later.
But that said, would anyone here
really want that road? I think we would handle UNLV, but they are a solid team with wins over quality opponents like Wisconsin and K-State. They aren't exceptionally long, but they don't have any real runts on the team either. And after that, ooft. Second round against Texas, Sweet 16 likely a Wisconsin team that already gave us fits once? I'd kill to swap that draw for the one in the West. George Mason in the first, BYU in the second, that'd be a virtual lock to the Sweet 16 to face either K-State or more likely a Syracuse team we already beat.

Don't recall any talk in the media as to how Missouri's run to the Elite 8 in 2008-9 was somehow cheapened by squeeking by MU with DJ for all intents and purposes out.
I also think it's WAY off base to say that "everyone on this board knows what a walk in the park they (UW) got" in 2000. I can't honestly even recall who Wisky beat on the road to the FF. As an MU fan, though, I do remember that ND beat us last year on Senior Day. Maybe it's just me.

That walk in the park included beating a #1 seeded Arizona team that featured four future NBA players ( a couple of them really good NBA players) and then an LSU team that had three future NBA players, including the future #2 overall pick.
You're right about the good fortune of their Elite Eight team, but the 2000 team beat some quality competition on their way to the Final Four.

Other than playing a meh Purdue team in the Elite Eight, that was a hell of a run, no denying that.
The Elite Eight in 2005, that UW fans love to trumpet in defense of Bo's tourney greatness, is the asterisk worth one. Northern Iowa, Bucknell, and a 10th seeded NC State, show me an easier path in the last 10 years. Its amazing to not see a single team with a single digit team till you are one of 8 left standing.
