Title: Who would you take if

You were an NBA G.M. A debate from the other board about Kemba Walker vs. Jordan Taylor. Who would you take?

Tristan Thompson

You know, I just like to be different from the other board.  Plus, guys their size are a dime a dozen in the NBA.

I think Taylor, while an excellent player, might be a half step too slow. I love his game, and he's a great college player, but I'm not sure he'll be able to create his own shot as effectively as Walker would in the NBA.

I know you like to be different Rocky, but it got me thinking as I saw Taylor drop in 39 points against Indiana tonight. I thought I would raise the question over here where I know I could get some better discussion/opinions. ;D

In that case: neither.

But I might look at a 6-8 Frosh who can average near a double-double.

I agree. If we're talking NBA, Kemba Walker, and its not close.

I'd also take Kemba. As good as Taylor is, I think Ryan's system does a good job of making players look better than they will likely be at the next level. I look at the somewhat similar guys Calhoun has sent to the NBA, Ray Allen, Rudy Gay, Rip Hamilton, Ben Gordon, it's just a more consistent list.

Both players are 6' 1''. Both are great shooters. Both have improved immensely since their freshman years.

I'd go with Taylor because he is a pure point guard though. At just above 6 feet, you better be able to handle the ball to play in the NBA. As good a scorer as Kemba is, he has not demonstrated the ability to create for others consistently (except when he plays us). Taylor gets the nod in my book.

The only question I have in my mind is Taylor's quickness and therefore ability to defend the point in the NBA.  Other than that, he's as good a shooter, better handler and 20 pounds larger.  Walker is only 6'1", 170 lbs.  I mean, Ben Gordon is a couple inches taller and 30 pounds heavier than Walker so I'm not sure that is a great comparison.
