Title: ESPN Coverage of MU vs. UC game tonight
Post by: asdfasdf on March 02, 2011, 09:14:30 AM
Does anyone know if the game tonight is on ESPN Full Court, or only ESPN3.com? I'm in Cincinnati and i would like to watch the game, but i'm not sure if it's going to be on TV anywhere...

Check blackout coverage tho...

How can I check blackout coverage?

Side question: I was under the impression that ESPN and the Big East had an agreement in their contract that all conference games would be televised nationally (ie ESPN Full Court). Is that not the case anymore? Or does ESPN3.com count as national coverage?

It is terrible that this game will not be on TV via Full Court, or MASN, or ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU.  My internet service provider doesn't carry ESPN3 - so therefore have no way of watching the biggest game of the year to date.  Love how on the ESPN3 site it says the MU vs Cincy game is an "exclusive."  (Which certainly confirms it won't be available on any other network)

Blows.

If you know somebody with ESPN3, you can get remote access. I forget exactly how it works, but it's not hard. Basically, you need somebody who has it to sign in on your ESPN account and enable it. Then, you sign in on your computer tonight, and it's allowed.

At least that worked a year or 2 ago.

If you have XBOX, with a xbox live gold membership, you can watch ESPN3 free of charge thru your XBOX.

I'm in the same boat.  This is a f'n joke!  I'm holding out hope that it's on regardless of what the guide lists.  I can't believe we can't watch THIS game of all f'n games!!

I'm almost certain that a friend of a friend's relative in some obscure country will come through tonight.  But we'll have to wait until closer to game-time to see if he does.

i found a thread on the UC boards about the game tonight. one guy's advice was to go to att.net, sign up for an email account, go to espn3.com, select att.net as your ISP, use your email sign-on name and password, and you will be able to view espn3.com. worked for me when I checked this morning.

I'm pretty sure you still need to have an isp that has a contract allowing espn3 as well.

I am in same boat as you, Ners. And Fox Sports, Cincy and Ohio does not have the game on. I do not know what the deal is with the BEast network( NY, MASN, MSN, etc.) Blows, sucks, outrageous, and so on. Will have to settle for Homer radio.

You can get around that by signing up for a free AT&T email account at this link. Then, use that email and password to sign in on ESPN3.com. That'll get you around the service provider problem. I forget who originally posted this idea on here, but it does work.

For any in the Denver/Front Range area, we got Stoney's at 11th and Lincoln to stream the game for us on a big screen.

And, they usually give us free food for each game!

Come on guys... it's not as though ESPN3 is only available through a handful of ISP's nationwide.  Now that T-W is on-board, I believe every major cable and DSL carrier in the U.S. allows ESPN3.

I have no cable or satellite subscription at home, and I've missed only one "non-cupcake" MU game this year on TV - and it's cost me $0 because AT&T happens to be my DSL provider.  Honestly, I'm not gloating here but merely demonstrating that it can be done.

Granted, you may not have a major carrier in your area or maybe you simply don't like to do business with the AT&Ts, Comcasts, and Time-Warners of the world, but this is the way the world is going when it comes to TV distribution, so cursing the cable companies or your satellite provider every time a game can't be seen is akin to complaining that the sun is too bright in the early mornings.

That's the point.  Everyone with satellite is screwed if they're in the blackout areas.

The current TV deal with TWC32 getting TV exclusives is ridiculous.

Every ESPN3 game so far has been blacked out in Colorado and on the East Coast in addition to the corridor from Green Bay to Chicago, should everyone fly to Milwaukee?

Phone?  Is there an app that enables listening?  I thought the ESPN radio app didn't have MU games, but would gladly download if it did.

ESPN Radio for iPhone does stream MU games.  Alternatively, you could save $3.99 and download ootunes (or something like that) for free and get WAUK that way.

Time Warner differentiates on whether or not you have cable service. I only have Time Warner Internet at home. When I try to use ESPN3 to stream a game, it will not do it since I do not pay for cable TV. I don't live in a new area or house (my building is 90 years old), so they can do this even with crappy, old infrastructure. This means to stream a game via ESPN3, I have to find a work around. Granted, it isn't that hard (like the ATT.net thing posted in this thread), though if I didn't know that I'd be SOL.

Being overseas, I can't get an ATT account or even open up ESPN3 for that matter because it says I must have an IP address from the U.S.,so is there a way to a)circumvent that or b) hide my IP address? This will probably also be the case come tourney time so might as well figure out how to beat the system now.

Colorado because Altitude often airs bigeast games (when there isn't avs / nuggets).
Otherwise, shouldn't be blacked out in the mtn west region.
