That'd be great if we could snag opening rounds in Chicago

He has us in Chicago as part of the Southwest (San Antonio) region.

Bracketology 101 (which has been one of the more accurate sites) has MU as a 9 playing Old Dominion in Denver with BYU as the 1.

I would LOVE to see BYU in the 2nd round.  Have Jimmy D up Jimmer the way he did with Brooks and we break on through to the other side (the other side being the second weekend).

Not as easy as that. Jimmer is much better from the line than Brooks. Shoots better from 3 and will do it from anywhere, and hes got quicker side to side handles in the half court.

Then factor in the fact that Emery, Hartsock and Abaou(sp?) can knock down the open shots providence didnt have the talent to hit and its much tougher.

But yes, BYU would be a much more ideal match up for us than KU, OSU or Texas. Id probably prefer SDSU the most since I think our athletic slashing could put them in real foul trouble.

We will get higher than a 10 seed if we win out... but playing in Chicago would be awesome

Obviously not as easy as that, but we've played six games against teams with a high scoring guard as the focal point (ND twice, UConn twice, St. John's and Providence).  Hansbrough and Walker went off on us once apiece, but they were held in check the other games.  We were 2-2 in those games.  Hardy went off on us, and Brooks was held in check.  We were 1-1 in those games.  Overall that's 3-3, and I'd like our chances as a Big East battle-tested team vs. the Mountain West champ on a neutral court.

He also currently has Cincinatti as a 7 seed.  If we beat Cinci on Wednesday could we jump up to as high as a 7 as well?

Amen, brother, amen.  MU vs. BYU will be a match made in heaven for us.  (Sorry for the religious-proselytizing cliche, but I just couldn't resist it!)

Yeah I understand what your saying. I was just pointing it out. I would still love BYU over some of the other teams with some monsters down low. But actually we did even better than you said against guards. Hansbrough and Hardy went off on us, but we also shut hansbrough down completely. When Uconn beat us Kemba didnt do a whole lot and although it seemed Kemba went off on thursday he scored 27 pts on 27 shots(terrible) and turned it over. So, actually overall we have done very well against top guards.

real time RPI.com does not have us in. Should we be worried about that?

Marquette can definitely get to a 7 seed.  Would need more than just a win over Cincy though.

If MU racks up 4 more wins on the season, our seeding will increase dramatically.

Real last updated on 2/22, so before our UCONN win.  No worries on that one.

http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

We are in 67 out of 75 brackets with an average seed of 10.

6 of those that don't have us in haven't updated since before the win over UCONN.

If 11 Big East teams make the dance it will be interesting to see how the committee seeds the Big East teams.  Especially if Pitt does not get a 1 seed and so many teams bunched together, there will be a lot of seed jumping up and down a line so that none of the Big East teams face each other early on.  We could easily see 3 or 4 Big East teams get the dreaded 8/9 matchup.

If I remember last year correctly, we were in all of the matrix's 60+ brackets that it tracks but one...realtimerpi.com.

Lunardi also has Michigan effing State a 10...that's an MSU team that has defeated UW (in ot...at home...by 3), and U of Washington (from the vaunted Pac10) as their only top 25 wins on the year with not one solid road win.

Craziest factoid I learned today - in the last 16 years, Sparty has lost 12 games or more 8 seasons. And they've made six final fours. That's just crazy.

Not to be a Debbie downer to those who are worried about who the number one seed in our bracket is, we still have two regular season games to worry about plus the big east tournament. I'm as excited as the next guy about us getting into the dance. But we should worry about those game and then the first round game of the tournament considering out history in the first round anyways. Just saying.

Either way, if we get a 10 seed, I'd really hate to be that 6 seed.

Why because they avoid us since a 10 plays a 7 to start and the 6 is on the other side of the region???  ;)

Also, to the above comment about the placement of 11 BEast teams in the bracket, I believe once they get more than 8 they don't worry about placing them because no matter what some BEast team will face another if both win on the second day.

I meant a 7. That was a typo. Don't have to be a dick.

Anything but an 8 or 9 is what you want.

I want an 8-9, if it matches the winner up with BYU.
