Title: Why that game might be good.
Post by: COS98 on November 14, 2006, 10:34:12 AM
1)  Close games will come in real handy (like tonight or maybe in KC)
2)  Top 20, All-Americans, Big East Champions, let's quit reading all the BS about us and get down to the basics.
3)  We might be up against zones and need a reliable half court offense.

I like a wake up call and still are 2-0.  Glass half full.

Well, lets make that 2 wake up calls, but yes, we've at least won both of them.

I know the team can play a lot better, but the trick is whether they can pull it together quickly or not.

Agreed. This team can and will play much better.

I'd like to see the starters (plus Lazar and Fitz) play more tonight. I know we need to get other people involved, but I think these guys need some time to gel a bit.

None of MU's players have shown one bit of evidence that they are ready for the NBA. So maybe the sophomores all stick around to be seniors.

honestly, the only one who i ever thought would leave early was matthews, because he has an NBA body.  DJ was amazing last year, but i was still shocked at the nba hype he received late last year and this preseason.  he's 5'11 (maybe)!!  how many nba point guards are that size, and secondly, how many were drafted before they graduated?  look at jameer nelson a couple years ago.  he was the national player of the year, and he was drafted in the 20's.  nelson is not the athlete DJ is, but he is far superior offensively, and he runs a team just as well...

TJ Ford is slighter than DJ, went pro after his Sophomore year and was drafted #8.

I'd love to see Crean get a regular rotation/lineup going. Everyone is getting relatively the same amount of minutes, but why run Wesley at the 1 and DJ at the 2? Why have David run the point when you have the a top 5 PG in the nation on your team? When DJ is at the 2 he becomes invisible. It didn't help that Wesley had one of his worst games i've ever seen him in. TWO aired three balls. Fumbling the ball while driving! Give DJ the rock and let him make a play!

I've been grumbling about the overuse of DJ at the 2, and someone with less pg skill up top.
yeah, I know he's explosive, etc...
but he did all that at the point last year, why not now?
nobody with better court vision than dominic--- so it makes it even more crucial that he's the one dissecting the zone from the top, and making the drives and kicks that can make an offensive difference.

would like to know how many to's from the point pos. when dj was in there, but not handling the ball....
