JP Tokoto will be announcing his decision in 5 days as to where he'll be playing college ball. Cross your fingers, #Marquette fans. #MUBB

Gotta believe it's UNC after his recent visit there. At least we'll be able to move on and look elsewhere, instead of "holding a spot" for him.
If I had to put money down, I would bet on UNC. However, Buzz should remain cordial so that when he transfers ;D.......
I say he goes to Wisconsin.
Something in my gut says it...
My Homer heart says MU, though.
JP is too good for Wisconsin. He would fit in much better at Marquette.

+1
This will be settled one way or another this week. If not us, we can move on and look for a transfer in a year or two.

Writer for Fox Sports Wisc. He did a long story on Tokoto during the Brandon Jennings Tourney and is pretty close with the family.
My bet is UNC as well. Would be a huge shocker to see him committing here, but it would be pretty awesome.
Watch out for UWM, they're really under the radar and a major player for Tokoto.
He will likely pull a Joe Wolf and pick UNC. Would love to see him shock everybody and pick MU. BEast would be a challenge for him. Besides, why not play in the best conference?
Wasn't he at the game today, sitting behind the bench in a red shirt?
Just some things to consider - Mbakwe is probably wishing he stayed here. Maymon made a career decision by leaving MU. Robert Jackson shined as soon as he landed. Wes Matthews. Jamil Wilson needed a year away to determine MU was the place to be. Vander is coming along and will be successful.
JP, stop the nonsense and sign with MU!
How about adding the Tarik Black that went to Memphis

I agree with you, however, the one thing those guys never had was an offer to play basketball at UNC. And of all the elite level schools like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UCLA, etc. I would rank UNC as the top dog. Plus, it's pretty nice weather there and that's a beautiful campus in Chapel Hill.
I'm holding my breath already.

My guess is that was Todd Mayo who was visiting today.
I'm not Chicos, but I've been to UNC and loved their campus. It was a great area. Hopefully he picks MU, but wherever he goes it seems like he's handled this process as well as anyone could.
No it wasn't tokoto our mayo. Mayo was wearing a grey hat with a white sweatshirt. He was loving the videos being pained on the scoreboard. Should me interesting because prov wa also on his list.

What's the criteria? Women? Scenic views? Pretty buildings? Weather?
Tough call, depends on what someone is looking for. I like Duke's campus better than UNC's, but that's like saying I like Ms. Texas more than Ms. Arizona...they're both hot.
Stanford is the best looking campus I've been on. Princeton is damn nice, too. Duke was great, UNC very nice. UVA. Miami (OH). Yale (but you have to deal with New Haven which is a dump)
For the coeds....San Diego State. Arizona State. University of Oregon. Florida State.
No suspense here.

Mostly the women, buildings, scenery, and just overall atmosphere around the specific campus. Thanks for your insight.

New Haven is not a dump. You obviously haven't been here in awhile. It's actually a hot place to live.

He's got to pick MU. As Jean, he can join Jae, Jamail, Jamil, Junior, Juan, Jimmy, John, Jake, Joe, Jose, and every other player with a name that starts with a 'J'.

True, it's been over a decade since I've been there...probably 13 or 14 years. When last there, it was not what I expected at all. Then again, downtown Cleveland and downtown Denver used to be dumps, but with the stadiums and other improvements, they have improved.
If New Haven has improved, I tip my hat to them.
Reading SOME (note, some) of the reviews on College Confidential and Trip Advisor....looks like a lot of people still see New Haven in unfavorable views. Of course not everyone does.
Over on the scout board that are saying that both the badger and tar heel boards are saying they have Tokoto locked up.
Someone is going to be mighty disappointed.

I always likened the Yale campus to Marquette - An urban campus in the center of a downtown. The President of Yale and the Mayor of New Haven have been in charge since the mid-90s and both have a good working relationship with shared mutual interest. The wife and kids head to downtown New Haven all the time for Concerts on the Green, restaurants, the theaters, etc. For a good view of Downtown New Haven check out the motorcycle chase scenes in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull.
I agree with you on Cleveland. I spent a lot of time there in the mid-2000s for work and I thought it got an undeserved bad wrap. I had fun going to Indian games.

I dod see him in the hall, so yes, he was there yesterday.
It is interesting that he seems to come to MU games and events whenever he can. For a guy who seems to really be in love with Roy at UNC, he clearly *likes* Buzz and the MU program. Of course it is easy for a guy from the Falls to come downtown for a game - much easier than to go to Madison for instance. So I guess my point is that, even if he doesn't pick MU, Buzz clearly did a very good job with his recruitment. Can't fault him for the effort.
It looks like his visit to UNC last week made things clear in his mind. Maybe he saw or felt things he didn't like or wasn't comfortable with down there. We can only hope...

Geez, it sounds like the next thing you'll be saying is we should let them have the 1977 national title!

Is it a safe assumption that Imig is on the level? I know nothing about the guy, but I would have to assume that if he's legit and an announcement is coming, that JPT has already made up his mind.
If so, and also assuming that JPT was indeed at the game yesterday, would anyone else find it strange that he's attending a MU game having already made up his mind? On one hand, if he has chosen MU... wouldn't this blow open the anticipation over his announcement? On the other hand... if he's chosen someone else, doesn't this rise to the level of a mind-f&$#? I mean, it's kind of like going to meet a girl's parents when you've already made arrangements to propose to another girl later that week.
Sure, JPT is local and he should be able to enjoy a MU game whenever he wants for any or no reason at all... but if he had "hall-access," that's seems like a little bit more than just a casual taking-in of the local hoops team.
EDIT: I'm not accusing JPT of mind-f@#$@# anyone - I don't think (and I certainly hope) that's not what's going on here. Instead, I'm saying that this looks a heck of a lot more promising for MU than others who have previously responded about Imig's tweet.
I think by the "hall" he meant he was seen in the public concourses.

JP was NOT at the Marquette game yesterday against Providence.
http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/02/28/tokoto-to-announce-march-4/
Between UW, and UNC like most people think, although UNC seems much more likely now.
The Wisconsin Scout boards are saying that he was originally supposed to go to the game in Madison yesterday but was a "no show." (Their words...I am sure he simply cancelled.)
And since he wasn't at MU yesterday, my guess is that all signs are pointing to UNC.
Telep just said that he's hearing news could break as early as Thursday and he's hearing UNC...
Incidentally, Tokoto had earlier said he wanted to go back to attend the UNC-dook game which is Saturday night in Chapel Hill

Not possible...Menomonee Falls plays their opening round game Saturday at Waukesha South. Although the way the season has gone at Falls, maybe he'll just skip that and will be at the UNC/Duke game...
ACtually just checked and the game vs. WAukesha South is at 1:30 in the afternoon. Technically he could make both if he really wanted to

Yeah, Roy will just send the charter to Timmerman Field and fetch him.
Sure it's UNC, but if there's any hope, he'll be there tomorrow night.
Changing high schools, too. That practically seals it that he's going to UNC, IMO.

Please explain.
The rumor is that he won't be playing for his current coach his senior season and may transfer to a different high school, potentially even out of state to a power high school program.
I believe the Menomonee Falls newspaper has eluded to the notion he may not be at MF for his senior season.
alluded
Those are all rumors. To this point, everything has pointed to JP being at Falls next year. The only thing I could possibly see is him committing to Roy and Roy telling him that he's a hell of a talent but no way can he play at UNC as a freshman if he plays for that coach again. Leave the decision up to JP and at that point he'd make a choice.
But just for fun, if he leaves I'd like to see him at St. John's MA
Roy Williams is actually who suggested that a change of high school competition would benefit JP's basketball development late last summer.
Williams told the family that JP's upside was through the ceiling and that he just needed to be in situations where he would be constantly using those skills to realize his true potential.
He's also gotten to be very close friends with UNC commit Marcus Paige who he actually met last year while both were visiting Bucky's game vs dook.

Now, does anyone else doubt that he's headed to Carolina?

A few updates in my story tonight for FOXSportsWisconsin.com on Tokoto, including a response on whether he'll still be at Menomonee Falls next year:

Again, anyone who thinks Bucky has the edge over Marquette is simply out of their mind.
"Style of play comes into it because I prefer to play fast. I like getting up and down," Tokoto said. "It's fun watching that. I don't like to play slow games like when we play Brookfield East. They like to slow the game down a lot and keep it low scoring. I like to play fast."
He's basically saying he wants to play for a program like ours, and he does not want to play for a program like Wisconsin's. They play the slowest pace in all of D1 basketball...wait, now it's only the second slowest per kenpom! Maybe Bo Ryan read this and is trying to pick up the pace to lure Tokoto in! Yeah right.
As far as JP's final list, UNC, Maryland, and Kansas all play faster than we do, while UCLA, Kentucky, UConn, and Wisco all play slower.
If he does intend to transfer wouldn't it have to be out of state due to the changes WIAA made a couple years ago?

I can't say that I've seen him more than a couple times, but I think this would be a good idea. he's got all the talent in the world, but he definitely needs to learn to play better, and as he points out, playing against teams like Marquette High and Brookfield East are going to make that tougher.
