81-68 at home vs st john's?
How bad do you have to be?
Even a few of our subpar performances to sju and conference champs gonzaga, uwm and bucknell not looking quite as bad anymore.
and Dwight Hardy is BE POY. 34 points and basically destroyed Nova guards.
Sorry Jay, blackberry typo
Losing to SJU at home is unforgivable. (teal off) Seriously, assuming we get in, our bracket is going to be easier than playing in the BEast.
No one should want any part of St. John's in March. Five seniors all peaking at the same time.
Lavin seems to have improved as a coach. I remember at UCLA he always had talent on the roster but they underachieved, by UCLA standards.

A JUCO for Big East POY? Blasphemy! Seriously, I agree with Lavin. It's Hardy and it's not all that close.
Dwight Hardy was a teammate of Dwight Buycks. Pretty good backcourt.
Meranwhile, with road games at ND and Pitt to end their season, Jay Wright is staring at a 9-9 BE record and a possible 11th-place finish.

Must have been some serious streetball there.....

I guess everyone forgot about Kemba Walker.
their
Graphic during the CBS coverage of Syracuse - G'town today had Hardy as POY and St. John's winning the BEast tourney. Can't remember who the analyst was, but man do they look dangerous right now.

I don't know if they forgot, but how do you discount Hardy leading St. John's to a potential top 3 finish in the BEast when everybody had them in the bottom half coming into the season. Nothing about the past 3 years suggested that the Johnnies were as dangerous as they've been over the past three weeks, and Hardy is the biggest reason for that.

Didn't forget about him, but he's faded badly down the stretch.
Villy limping to the finish line. Potential road losses upcoming to ND and Pitt put them at .500 in conference. If MU simly takes care of business and finds a way to 10 wins, we're in.
Some of us picked SJU for the NCAA this past Summer and were roundly criticized for it. Good for the Johnnies.
Lenny, nothing wrong having a JUCO. People question having 5 at one time for all the reasons discussed ad nauseum. But if you would like to go into histrionics about a JUCO earning BE POY to be cute as if someone EVER said that isn't or shouldn't be possible ( which of course no one here ever did) by allmeans get lathered up and enjoy your experience.

+!. they may well win the BE Tourney.
Yeah, they are also playing like a top 10 team too, possibly top 5.
5 seniors. Enough said. Fat Pat would have had them dancing.

I have this thought every year and it doesn't play out that way.
How did Buzz miss on Dwight Hardy if he saw Dwight Buycks play? Looked
like buzz picked the wrong player on that team. Not saying DB being local
is not a good pick-up but boy DH is outstanding?

Buzz "missed" on Hardy? He was a local kid going home to St Johns.
St johns is probably the best team in the BE right now. Amazing what seniors can do to make a Putz like lavin look so go.

Yes and no.
I believe the fact that they're seniors who are hungry and experienced is a huge part of their success.
But Lavin's got them believing they're a Top 25 team and playing like a Top 25 team.
Great fit for the program.
Though I still maintain that one or two of next year's recruits will eventually transfer out for one reason or another, especially playing time.

Hardy is having a hell of a year, and should be BE POY. However, a big BUT is that that does not mean that he was the better player two years ago in JUCO.
Here is the comparison. As sophomores, Hardy was a NJCAA All-Region 11 first team selection while Buycks was a First Team NJCAA All-America selection. Buycks finished his career at Indian Hills third on the school's alltime scoring list with 1,254 points in two years, Hardy scored 1,163 points in his two years. As a sophomore, Buycks ... led the team in scoring, assists and steals, and ... shot 50.8 percent from the field. Meanwhile, Hardy finished his career as the school's single-season and career leader in 3-point field goals and 3-point attempts. Pretty close, but Buycks edged out Hardy as the better player in JUCO. Now if you want to consider whether Buzz should have offerred Hardy instead of DJO, that would be a more interesting discussion.
