Looking at the standings, I'm not wondering if we have the tiebreaker over UConn. I assume that since it is a 1-1 split head-to-head, it goes to something like common opponents, but I'm not sure. Who knows that answer?
It goes to record over the top team and so on.
Too soon to tell with the standings the way they are, but if ND stays near the top, it could come down to UConn's second game with ND (last game of the year). If ND wins, we would own the tie breaker. If UConn wins, it continues. The only other differences are Villanova (UConn beat them), Georgetown (UConn beat them), and Syracuse (UConn lost to them). So whichever one of those teams finishes higher would be the one that determines who wins the tie breaker. UConn still plays UC and WVU as well, so, like I said, just too soon to tell.
I have never heard of a tie-breaker like this. I kind of like it.
Looking at the remaining games in the BE, I will be somewhat surprised if MU finishes any lower than 8th, and I think there is a decent chance they end up as high as 6th or 7th (What happens to Georgetown is the big unknown). Difficult to project with tie breakers, not to mention the uncertainty of any win or loss in the BE, but I see a very good chance that they can finish ahead of UConn, Villanova, and UC (and stay ahead of WVU).
Well, technically right now we're 9th (hold the tier breaker over UConn and beat WVU). First round BEast game would be against DePaul if the tourney started today.
