Can we get some props for Vander? He really stepped it up that game.
He may not have had a great line, but he was aggressive early on in the game that kept us in it and helped in the run. He also hit some free throws in the second half early on when we weren't doing anything. I think with some work on his shot he will be very good, and I like that he seems to have a lot of confidence still.

Must be the headband.
and Cadougan - who demonstrated he can shoot (and passes well in traffic).
Vander played great tonight on BOTH ends of the court.....big props.....here's to hoping he keeps the headband!
GREAT GAME BY VANDER. AND HUGE THREE BY JUNIOR. WOW. LETS GO
The aggressiveness and free throws were awesome - when nothing else was working.
And huge props to Junior for firing - and hitting the 3 as the FIRST field goal of the 2nd half. Those two are gonna need that attitude all year next year.
Vander had a nice game, he looked more confident out there.
Did the little things and is learning how to get himself to the line on O.
If the distance jumper ever comes, watch out.

Must be the headband.
Yes! Kinda of wish he wore it like Zar... However what was up with the gold unis tnite?
Also, Vander stepped up big time tnite contributing here and there all over. Surprisingly Van was the only one hitting free throw after free throw in regulation. Hope we see him like this more often.
First post, long lurker-
I know Vander has looked very frazzled this season, but I just wanted to add to everyone saying he had a great game. Lets hope he continues this confidence and is strong next season. He just needs time to adjust to BE play.... sometimes potential takes awhile to develop when you are in the toughest conference in the nation.
5-6 Free Throws (5 in a row), 7 Points, 1 Steal
Vander looked more confident tonight and played his usual tight D
He seemed to have confidence in his step again. Playing defense as well as he did probably helped his confidence on the other side of the court. Very relieved to see him have a solid game. We'll need a lot more of him in the coming years.
He looked confident for once. Even when he missed that three in the first half, I actually had confidence that it could go in.
I hope this a sign for things to come.
Vander was OUTSTANDING tonight. Really showed good confidence out there.
I've been in the anti-Vander camp so I feel the need to give him some love. Much better decisions tonight and made some key plays when we went for like an hour without a field goal.
It looked like Vander's ball rotation on his FTs and his jump shot was much improved! He's definitely worked on his outside shot. Keep it up VB!
Big Time from Vander all over the floor. Key FTs when we couldn't hit one. I admit, I cringed a couple times on his choice of a quick shot, but I realized they usually were good shots. He will certainly get better and make a couple of those. Very impressed.
He looked much more confident tonight. I am big believer in Blue and thought this was good night for him and the team.
What was great about him tonight was that this game was against a big time team on the road and at a point in the season where the team is under a lot of pressure as to whether or not they are in the tournament. Way to go Vander.
So fired up right now. I appreciate Buzz having patience with these young players..which will pay off now and next year as well.
Van's going to be OK.
Vander and Junior both had their best games in a MU uniform tonight.
Vander kept a couple plays alive, was disruptive on defense, and played completely within himself on offense.
Junior ran the show well, and that three was immense. In the 37 minutes between them, they combined for 1 turnover.
He can keep the hair.
Vander was downright Gasserian tonight! (Sorry. Couldn't resist ;))
VB played an excellent game. He played with confidence and made things happen. I have to believe that he had a long convo with Buzz and/or the assistants and/or his teammates and they let him know that they still have confidence in him and expect him to be a major contributor. When he knocked down that jumper, you could see him become more relaxed. It was like the weight was gone. His 3-point attempt wasn't real pretty because he didn't keep his shoulders square - it was almost like he twisted his body. He's clearly been working on it and, even though he missed, I liked the way he caught it and shot it with no hesitation. He's going to be a dangerous player for MU.
headband?
Keep rockin' the headband AND the high socks young man!!

+1. He's simply got to take open 3's like that. I was so happy when he rose up and shot that, even though came off the front of the rim. I just love watching him play isolated defense too, he can put pressure on the ball, but he always seems to stay in front of his man.
Vander played very good. Looked much more confident. Heard Vander say in the interview with Homer that he realizes that as freshman he's not the "go to" guy on the team. I think Vander can play much better if he thinks of himself as a "go to" guy. Marquette needs a lot of "go to" guys and Vander has the talent to be a successful "go to" guy. Vander, play hard, play to win. You can beat any player guarding you. Practice your shot. You can be great!
Vander can wear Horace Grant goggles if he wants. Whatever makes him play better. I keep forgetting how young he is, his expectations were so high coming in. He does need to work on limiting his turnovers and being smarter with the ball. I don't know he will be the superstar everyone thought he would be. I keep looking for flashes of brilliance but haven't seen anything yet. That being said, he does a hell of a lot better than I could do.
