??
Depends if we're able to beat the Bearcats.
I think that is good for us. Makes a win against them better, if we can win. Makes a loss to them less damaging.
Unfortunately we have to beat UConn now I think. UC now beating teams we could not earlier in the year.
If Chris Wright would have gone 0-4 from 3-point land and scored only 2 points against us, MU would have beat Georgetown too despite how bad MU played in the 2nd half.

Agreed. That win means the committee will most likely have to take 11 from the BEast for MU to get in, which if we win tomorrow night is a distinct possibility.

Yep. Unfortunately, I do not see a win against UCONN. We are going the wrong direction and are just about at the end of the line. This time of year separates the contenders from the pretenders.
i dont think we NEED to beat uconn. If we win it might make us a lock. But lunardi already had cincy in front of us in the bracketology. A win against them and one round farther then them in the bet. I think we will be considered ahead of them because they will drop a few at home with uconn and gtown.

I disagree. If we lose at UConn but take care of business at home and finish with a win at Seton Hall you don't think 10-8 gets us in?? A win tomorrow would be huge but we don't HAVE to come home with a W to keep our tourney hopes alive.

+1. You're right on Poopscoop
I wouldn't count on Georgetown beating Cincy in the return.....Wright broke his wrist tonight.
Also, this was Cincy's first road win against a top 25 team in seven years. That is how rare these kind of wins are.
For all of D1 ball this year, was this just the 25th of 345 teams to win against a top 25 on the road?
Number 26 will be MU tomorrow!

Terrible new got Gtown. Very lucky news for Cincy.
Nonetheless, I still don't think we're competing with Cincy for a spot- we just need to prove we deserve a spot regardless of what cincy does.

If we beat UConn, it is unlikely that we ended up as the 11th team from the BEast, especially if we win our home games. That's the real value of winning tonight, it sort of puts us back in a situation where 10-8 is very likely not only on the right side of the bubble, but higher up in the BEast standings.
We dont have to beat Uconn, although its recommended.
No way we do win sadly though.
But cincy will get a big * next to that game b/c wright is hurt. ::)
Cincy is now in. Only way we get in is if they tale 11 from BEast, and Im do not believe they will. We are on outside looking in. NIT.
Oh well, there is always next year. We must beat UCONN tonight.

Wasn't Tennessee over Vandy number 25?
I really hope that everyone realizes even with a loss tonight we still could potentially finish ahead of west virginia. Cincy still has 3 games left that are ones that could very easily turn into losses. Cautiously optimistic

Agreed. There are still enough games left no matter what the outcome is tonight.
Thankfully we're going to get a big win @UConn, so we won't have to worry about it.
Point is St Johns needed to win some big games even to get ON the bubble, and continues to win down the stretch. Same for Cincy, they have won the games they had to win.
They have both moved ahead of us in the pecking order.
Still time, but we need to win some games and there are no easy ones left (anyone see Providence last night?). I think we DO need to beat UCONN tonight - or win the rest and 2 more in the Big East tourny.
It means it's over.

Aren't you a peach. Thanks for justifying your answer on a highly divisive question.
If all the negative posters would do one minute of research, they would realize that saying tonight is a must win is asinine

I just find it humorous that a large number of people here are claiming we are out of it and we need to beat UCONN and almost run the table in the BE tourney to get in, yet the majority of pundits and statisticians feel 1) the BE gets 11 teams, and 2) MU is one of those teams. Get a grip people, lets just win a few basketball games and chill out.

So the real thing to worry about is that BEast gets 11 teams, and then we are all right. Somehow, I do not get great comfort that we are just #11 in BEast. That is not what we should have expectations for.
I'm figurin' the BE gets 10 teams in and St. John's is clearly in.
The committee has no problem putting 11 teams from the BEast in. Hypothetically, if we win out, we're in hands down. Hell if we win tonight, we're basically a lock. You can't fault a team for being in a really good (and HUGE) conference. If they have the numbers, they're in.

Michigan State is 4th in the Big Ten at 8-7 for pete's sake. We'd be right there with our record in the Big Ten and we're in a better conference.
