Our first game will likely be against Rutgers, Providence, USF, or DePaul--games that will hurt us if we lose, but won't help us much if we win.
Moot point. MU will go 10-8.
It all depends who the opponent is in the BET.
I'll feel a lot better after MU beats UCON.

So will I, especially since I'll be in the building in Hartford. Go Warriors!

+1. Something has to give. Enough with this back and forth, kill the drama, and win back to back BEast games!

No. At 9-9 without quality road wins, we will need to beat someone in the Top 25 in the BE tourney.
I am amazed 48% of posters (as of this post) think we will get in the NCAA going 9-9 with only one win the BET. No way.
The first game in the BET will be over a team that will not help us as '84 stated. We must win two games in the BET to get in with 9-9. And even then I will be sweating on Selection Sunday.
Those 48% have looked at the teams not in the current projected field who would have to pass us for us not to get in.
Lots of bad teams out there.
Not a sure thing that 9-9 plus 1 will get us in but it wouldn't surprise me at all based on how soft this bubble is.
I believe it does with one tourney win but don't want to find out. With chicos in the house cheering us past uconn we can't lose so we won't need to find out!
How hard is it to get tix in Hartford? Class of '91 looking to represent.

I got mine through ESPN, not sure how hard the ticket normally is. I'm trying right now to figure out how I'm going to get out of my meeting in time to make the getaway in time and not miss tipoff.
I don't tknow if 9-9 will get us in, however, I think the BE will get exactly 10 teams so I see it coming down to basically Cincy and MU. That's why the MU/Cincy game is obviously a must win and MU will prolly have to steal a win on the road against SH or UCONN to go along with wins over Cincy and PU to get in.
Lose to Cincinnati and MU really is on the bubble as Cinci is a bubble team as well, need that
game more than any of the 4 left, UConn do not see it. MU does not have that killer instinct this
year, last year had seniors but Lazar was a true leader, this year, Jimmy is quiet and unemotional
that is his personality. Lazar could take over games, Jimmy not really. Secondly, the guards last
year were mentally tough, neither JD or DB have it in them. to beat U Conn, DB will have to be the
X factor. A breakout scoring game, much lile Lamb did the first time, need somebody to step up.
DB is the only one.
I think 9-9 without either a UConn or Cincinnati victory makes it very doubtful because that would all but relegate Marquette to the 11th seed, which arguably could make us the worst best team in a meat grinder of a conference and would require at least two Big East tournament victories.
I think the bigger issue is whether the committee has the fortitude to award more than a quarter of its at-large bids to one conference if it were to give the Big East 11 teams in the field of 68. I know every season is based on its own merits and this pablum is repeated every year, but 10 at-large bids to one conference will give the selection committee pause. I think 10 total bids is more realistic, which makes both Cincinnati and Connecticut steel-cage must-win matches.
On a non-conference note, I would love to see San Diego State be given the No. 1 seed in the West should it beat the Jimmer on Saturday and win the MWC outright based on its eventual body of work. However, I also know that's a pipe dream since the Aztecs are little more than a vapor that appears on TV every now and then unless you have CBS College Sports or whatever name they're choosing to use this week.

Do you want me to write you an excuse? Otherwise, that's easy. Just say you've got diarrhea. Blame it on the bad Mexican for lunch.
The committee has said it before, the media who participate in the mock-selection have substantiated it, and historically there's no evidence to show that conference affiliation means anything to the committee. Don't kid yourselves people... if 12 teams from the Big East are more worthy than the other teams under consideration, the committee will take 12 teams from the Big East.
Regardless, I don't think 10-8 or 9-9 gets MU in if they lose to UCONN. They need a marquee road or neutral win to favorably compare across all metrics amongst the bubble-folk. Granted every bubble team has a flawed resume, most have at least one road/neutral win... that could come back to bite MU.
In other words:
Finish 7-11 or 8-10
Only way they dance is as an AQ.
Finish 10-8 & lose to UCONN
Need a Wednesday BET win.
Finish 9-9 & lose to UCONN or Providence
Need a Thursday BET win.
Finish 9-9, 10-8, & beat UCONN
Don't lose the Tuesday BET game (if they play).
Finish 11-7
In.
Knight - google XLCenter tickets - should be plenty. Ther's also a MU alumni dinner across the street at the Hilton (right across the street) and they have some tickets also.

I'll be at the XL Center in Hartford also with Mrs. MU Fan and Daughter MU Fans. I won't be able to make the pre-game dinner.
How about a UCONN win, and a cincy loss? I know that scenario is kind of awkward, but still worth mentioning. UCONN win gives us our road win, but cincy loss means we lost to both the other potential "bubble" teams (although it's hard to use the word bubble and St. Johns in the same sentence now) head to head....plus that Cincy loss would be on our own floor. I vote we just win out...can't go wrong with that ;D
Interesting scenario with a UConn win and a Cincy loss. I think we still get in as long as we don't blow it and lose to USF in the first round of the BE tourney.

Are you a dentist in Milwaukee or a doctor in Madison?
(just made my dentist $160 for 10 seconds of work. You guys got it made!)

Pretty much agree with the analysis. Just not sure how Cincy game fits into the equation.

If he's a doctor in Madison, maybe he can write all of us a get out of work note for the rest of this work. Cha bing. I'm here all week.
I do not believe that 9-9 gets us in, unless we play in championship pf BEast tourney.
