There's no doubt that moving to the Big East from C-USA was a great move for Marquette. However, the commitee pretty much said otherwise. An above .500 record in one of the toughest and the largest conference earns an 8 seed (and in Syracuse's case no seed!). What's the downside to staying in C-USA to beat up on everyone like Memphis.
(For the record I in no way believe we should return to C-USA. I'll take the Big East anyday. Even Selection Sunday!)
Memphis is 25-1 over the last two years of CUSA play. WTF?!?! ???
CUSA isn't a legit conference anymore.
however that brings a good point... Memphis is beating up C-USA... and getting 1 and 2 seeds.... Marquette is playing well in the Big East, and being penalized in my eyes with an 8 seed..... I thought maybe a night sleep would put me in a better mood, although I am happy to be in the tournament, I feel like we got jobbed
I agree that if the former C-USA teams were in C-USA this year, there would be more combined C-USA and Big East Teams in the tourney. You can't tell me the Big East would only get 4. Plus DePaul would probably have a gaudy record in C-USA this year. Don't regret the move one bit, though.
To me, the Big East should get the most teams in the tourney every year, simply because they have the most teams in the conference. Here's the breakdown of the 6 major conferences below. The major conferences got 46.5% of their teams in the tournament. If the Big East had that percentage they would have 7.46 teams in. Namely SU in, WVU out. Oddly, for the B-12, of the 4 teams they got in, I'd consider 3 national title contendors. (Kansas, Texas, Texas A&M)
P10 6/10 60.0%
ACC 7/12 58.3%
B10 6/11 54.5%
SEC 5/12 41.7%
BE 6/16 37.5%
B12 4/12 33.3%
All Major Conferences 34/73 46.6%

Memphis is in a similar situation now to what Gonzaga has been in the past. Huge fish in a small pond.
The numbers show the BS of it all!! Lok at the numbers and then tell me what 2 conferences did not have representation!?!? Patheticly political.
How the Big Ten gets over 50 percent is a joke.... OSU, UW, MSU and IU are the only ones worthy in the Big Ten.
We are in the right conference, the conference just didn't have representation in the committee so it got screwed. Indiana's seeding as well as Purdue and Illinois getting in make me sick.
