Get your act together. That is all.
Priorities. Don't think the student section was the problem tonight.

Agreed.
Wasn't the main problem, but I was there and completely embarrassed to be a part of it.
Goes for the whole stadium, really. Alumni sat on their hands for 40 minutes, only removing them once to boo the team. Disgrace.
The whole crowd was dead tonight but that was the least of our problems, lack of energy was a result of the way we played. What a terrible game but at least we stop pretending if we x more we are in the NCAA, we are not a tournament team this year.
You could feel the silence from the tip. Good play energizes the crowd, no question, but this is as close to a must-win that the BC may see all year. There was absolutely no excuse for that bullsh*t.
Never said it was the problem. I understand the frustration but fans, especially the students, need to show support unconditionally. Hopefully they'll realize what's at stake now.
Student section has been disappointing all year. The only time I recall it even filling up is against wisconsin. They got to get more people out to the game somehow, more bobbleheads maybe?
I was satisfied with student attendance/participation for Prairie View, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, UConn and Syracuse. Five games a year just isn't good enough, especially for a school that has one sports program. For the students not to show up to a pivotal Big East matchup tonight is inexcusable. Everybody is worried about they're f*cking communications and baby biology exams. Like I said before, I'm completely embarrassed to be a part of it right now.

Fairweather fans. Really disappointing crop coming out of campus this year. Pull their lower deck student seats and give them away to homeless people. At least homeless people would stay for the whole game to keep warm during Wisconsin winters.
Very low energy crowd tonight, almost like people didn't want to get into it for fear of a poor second half performance. This was one of the quietest crowds for a big game I have seen. People around me were almost in disbelief that there was a 20 point swing. This one stings.

I couldn't believe there wasn't even noise for several SJU free throws.

Agreed. The student section was thin and quiet behind the basket. Odd, just odd. That's all I can really say.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one that noticed the total lack of enthusiasm from the student section, the crowd and the team...
What is up with the student section?? I was surprised to see the lack of support - I expected to see a lot more students, given the importance of this game. A school the size of Marquette and this was the best we could do?? Very disappointing.
The rest of the crowd just sat there like zombies. Everyone should have been fired up - you can't tell me a team doesn't feed on the crowd's energy..
The atmosphere was just weird from the tipoff.....
And, the boos were uncalled for - I'm sure that did wonders for their apparent lack of confidence that obviously has set in....
Don't lump all the students together. There are definitely some students who cheer their ass off for this team and stay to the end and would never boo this team or any Marquette team. Do you really expect 70% of the students to come out against a St. John's team that has been terrible in past years on a Tuesday night? Most students aren't educated like the fans on here are. Face reality. This loss is not be blamed on the crowd. Stop making excuses because you think the student section was better when you were there.

I wasn't there, so I can't say for sure what happened, but...
That's a 2-way street. The crowd feeds off the team as well. Tough to get excited when you know what's coming and it isn't good...

The team needs to inspire the crowd and the way we played it was tough to get excited.
I was at ND and their fans were also dead in the first half. Once ND started playing well they came to life.
We never started playing well.

yes I expected all the students to be there last night.... Am I wrong?
You think it is bad now. Wait until next year and you start to see 11,000 12,000 on a regular basis.
Attendance is already slipping - lots of open seats in lower deck for all recent games. Season tickets likely go down next year with the product on the floor this year. And yes, it is a product - big budgets, big salaries, expensive season ticket prices....

For what was on the line with this game, yes I would have expected more students. What does Tuesday night have to do with anything...there are lots of games being played on a week night with big student attendance. It wasn't just the student section, it was the entire BC. Not blaming the crowd for the loss...the point I was trying to make was that for a home team that is playing in front of a fired up crowd, to me, seems to play better.....hard to get excited with a group that for some reason decided not to show up last night......just sayin
I hate games that have giveaways...every one of those games I see some student leaving the game as I'm arriving before tip-off with a smug look on their face and their new freebie in hand.
But it wasn't just the student section - the entire crowd was dead, the team lacked energy, the announcer was off, and Steve Lavin was wearing tennis shoes.
