Our last 3 games at the Sun Dome (with FT shooting numbers):
2007: 70-68 win on a McNeal steal and layup at the buzzer. 16-24 on FTs.
2009: 57-56 loss at buzzer on a Matthews jumper/Hayward tip. 10-23 on FTs.
2011: 59-58 win despite 0-8 FTs and USF's guard incompetence. 7-18 on FTs.
Not to mention, the building itself . . . between this and AllState, not sure which is worse.
terrible seating, no crowd, no good atmosphere, unless you call the Jersey Shores Fist Pump Cam a good in-game experience. I'll take jumpin' guy any time over these fans. :)
I would miss 999 in a row if I had this distraction behind the basket. Lay off the boys.

Before the game even started last night, Jimmy Mac said he thought free throws would be difficult due to the position of their big screen. He said that the way it is positioned, you see a giant image of yourself going through the shooting motion out of the corner of your eye.
Rosiak tweeted me today and said Marquette is 17 for 42 in FT in their last 2 games there. Clearly there is something distracting there...

I don't know... they're good, but are they really that much better than other schools? Enough to explain poor shooting? Everyone has at least good looking cheerleaders. It's not like we were playing @ Oregon.
P.S. Yes, I am aware you were probably joking.

Yeah...no difference between schools

Love the way you back up your points with stats, Dr. B.

JimmyMac doesn't know what he's talking about. Even though they were shooting over 70% as a team, clearly they missed those shots last night because the don't practice enough. Duh!
Despite the value of Dr. Blackheart's "definitive evidence" in this discussion, I do wonder about the percentages of other team's FT shooting at USF. Does every team shoot free throws as poorly as MU? Do cold weather opponents (most notably Depaul, ND, Syracuse and UConn) generally shoot poorly when they get to warm sunny FL?
