Title: Jeremy Lamb
Post by: Doris Burkes Thong on January 25, 2011, 10:35:52 PM
Looks like a smooth customer out there doesn't he? Very polished for a freshman.

He plays and looks like, what I think Scottie Pippen must've looked like his freshman year @ Central Arkansas.

Jeremy Lamb
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 165
Position:  SG
Year:  Class of 2010
AAU Team:  Georgia Stars
High School:  Norcross HS
(Norcross, GA)

2010 Scout.com HS Basketball Rankings:
Pos: SG Pos Rank: #21 Pos Rating: ****

Scout.com Player Evaluation:
STRENGTHS
Ability to Create
Upside/Potential
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Shooting Off Dribble
Strength

Late blooming wing player exploded onto the scene in the summer of 2009. Body has a long way to go but his game as a scorer off the bounce is noted. Long term prospect and a high-major priority.

Scout ranked Vander the #6 SG, well ahead of Lamb. Based on what we saw tonight, don't think so. Not even close.

Amazing kid. Talent galore.

6'4"...7'4" WINGSPAN?!?

Ridiculous.

Last time I heard an MU player with measurables like that was Wade.

The profile (including ranking) is almost identical to a guy on our team who can't find the floor. This kids gets 22 MPG, and Jamail Jones gets none. I'm certain Buzz has his reasons, but I just have come around to thinking that if you are going to bring in highly regarded players like Jones, and Blue, you've got to get them on the floor. Are we going to be worse defensively? Not sure that's possible after what I witnessed last night. Not saying he should start or play starters minutes (although I do think Buzz would do Vander Blue a huge favor by putting him in the starting line up. Don't need to increase his overall minutes, but I think it would help him to be out there at the start of the game. No I don't know who's place he would take. Probably Otoule), but if these guys are the future of your program, I think you have to find ways force them in there.

I wouldn't.  But I base my opinions on more than one game.

I realized Lamb was a freshman when he hit that little floater on the baseline and my only thought was... DaaaaaMN.

That kid played great last night. Wish the blue on his jersey was accented with gold.

Yeah, he's a serious talent, part of it was we made him look like a lottery pick last night.
But let's see how he does without an NBA point guard setting everything up for him and drawing the entire focus of the defense.

On Marquette Basketball with Buzz (TWC)

Buzz said, "Lamb was at MU three times and wanted to come here, but he wasn't very good. Lamb was one of the reason he beat us"

If I'm interpreting this correctly if we had offered he would be a warrior, seems like a big whiff,  IIRC he was highly rated.

That was the feeling on Lamb for a very long time during his high school days. Very lax player...didnt hustle...wasnt very good. Was seen as a mid major player.

Then he blew up, I believe it was at the Peach Jam in 2009, and Rick Barnes offered him after watching him for about 5 minutes. Uconn eventually offered. From there it was between just Uconn and Texas

That to me sums up why Buzz would pass on him - if the kid's not busting his ass on the court, Buzz will take a pass.

With that kind of attention even if Buzz had offered he may not have ended up here.  Or at least that rationalization makes me feel better about it!
