We unlikely won't...but remember, the AP writers didn't have them ranked coming into the season so they really aren't that good cuz the AP rankings are where it's at biotch

:)

Uconn is going down. We are playing well and expect a good rebound here

I know last years USF team is nothing like this years UConn but last year when DJones faced us he was one of this hottest players in the league, possibly nation. If DJO(?) can stop Kemba we have a shot. Lets just hope it doesn't come down to this final seconds.

oh my gosh we have no chance!  Might as well not even show up.

I am oh so glad none of the whiny crybabies on this board have anything to do with our team.

MSU is unimpressive, Kentucky is nowhere near as good as their hype, and the Huskies didn't "waste" Texas.

I've seen UConn nearly 15 times. They've unimpressed as much as they've impressed. Like nearly all the 330+ teams in the country.

Who's to say they won't bring their 'D' game on Tuesday?

Btw, just think how good this UConn team is without Walker. Compared to previous years, very soft.

They also lost to Notre Dame, a team we beat. If we can defend for 40 minutes, hassle the hell out of Walker, and win the free throw battle, we can beat them. Buzz is a great motivator, I hope he conveys to the team how big this game is. Come March, this could be the difference between NCAA and NIT.

UCONN's ours.

Put in the hitman Frozena at the start and have him punch Kemba in the eyes. Should put him outta the game. ;)

Unfortunately Kemba is extremely clutch and the entire MU team isn't. Loss in the last 1:30.

So it's unlikely we won't win. Glad you're on board and predicting a victory but that's sure an odd way of putting it :)

Beer driven double negative.  Having too much fun today with my wife and son who are Packer fans.

So let me rephrase, "likely won't win"

I like our chances.  Love when the fans have low expectation.

Let's remember sans the Wisconsin game, we have been very good at home.  And the Wisconsin game is really a partial home game given the crowd.

I actually like our chances.  Let Walker get 25-30 points but don't let Oriakhi (sp?) get a lot of offensive boards and don't let the other guards hit open threes.  Given how UConn likes to bat the ball around on the offensive boards, I would like to see Fulce get 15-20 minutes this game.  Also, UConn is prone to giving up transitions baskets so I think Blue should get decent minutes too.

I actually like our chances.  Of the tough stretch coming up, this is the game we have the best chance to win.

Bingo especially on Walker...he is going to get his points but you can wear him out.  With him it is 12 round match not a sprint.  Try to limit the others and most of all, tire him out.  End to end Walker.

Because this year's UConn team is not as good as the one that came to the BC as #2 when Novak dropped 41 and we blew them out in our Big East debut.

Because this year's UConn team is not as good as the one that came to the BC as #2 when DJ broke his foot and Acker put in 33 minutes with no TOs and no missed shots and we led with 7 minutes to go only to fall apart at the end.

Because this year's UConn team is not that much better than last year's team that we beat on a last second fadeaway by JFB in Hartford.

I think we have a huge opportunity here.

It seems like we have been having a lot of these "fluke" losses.   Its not a fluke, They can't play with a lead, and if they are not making their 3's, you can turn the game off.

I think the team is learning how to play together.  Jimmy and djo are struggling with leadership. Good news is that we are in a better position than last year at the same time.  We just need to hold the leads and win.

5 point plan:

1.  Guard Kemba Walker.
2.  Guard Kemba Walker.
3.  Guard Kemba Walker.
4.  Block our Oriakhi.
5.  Play a full 40 minutes of good basketball for a change.

Unless UConn shows up at Storrs thinking the game is there, we have no shot.

UConn struggled to beat USF on their home court if I recall correctly.  We will never shut Kemba Walker down completely but if we can just contain him, I like our chances.  Buzz has used the Box and 1 a couple of times this year, I think we may see this on Tuesday.

I watch UConn a lot.  They truly play to the level of their opponent.  I watched them trail at halftime to New Hampshire and Vermont.  If they come to Milwaukee thinking this one's in the bag, we've got a great chance.  If they come ready to play, we better be hitting our threes or else no shot.

...."They lost to Pitt by 15 and nd.  We clobbered nd and played closer at Pitt"....

I don't know who will win this game, but I DO know that comparing like opponents is probably one of the most useless and inaccurate ways to assess a games possible outcome. Teams never play the same way twice, neither do their opponents. If it was an accurate barometer for comparing teams, how do you explain winning and losing to the same team in the same season? We lost @ Pitt by 15, and lost @ ND by 3.....then ND beats Pitt. Does the fact that our game with ND was much closer than our game with Pitt now mean that we were better than our 15 point loss to Pitt? No. It still means we got smoked on their home court.

In my opinion, past performances have no bearing on future performances....that is, assuming we're not talking about an obvious mis-match, which MU - UConn isn't.

What are your thoughts?

Think you are 100% right.  The exercise of comparing common opponents really isn't that illuminating..but just something fans do to try to get some insight into how two teams may do against one another...even though there really isn't anything concrete that can be correlated.

Should be a good game tonight..I haven't looked at the line - but I'd guess it can't be much more than UCONN by 3 or 4?

Jim Calhoun didn't coach that game, he was out on medical leave. George Blaney coached the game last year. So technically, yes, they have changed coaches.
