...to being left out of the tourney? No Syracuse?!?!
Hate to see what would have happened had we lost to St. John's...
Goes to show that they are looking at how you do in the last 10 games...
If they were looking at how teams did they did the last 10 games, how did Florida get the overall No. 1 seed? Loking back, had we not beaten St. John;'s we would have been left out of the tournament.
And that is probably the worst criteria out there they look at. I thought it was all about the entire package and whole season. What a bunch of crock.
Dangerously close. Had we lost that Pitt game last weekend, we'd be making plans for the NIT.
Florida won the SEC tourney and according to the bozos on TV, a lot of stock was put into conference tourneys. Granted I think this theory isn't really consistent with what was shown.
FLA won their conference tournament quite convincingly. Arguing over whether they should be a 1 or 2 is pointless. We played lousy our last ten games and McNeal may be out for the tourney. I think we got what we deserved. But in comparison to Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois, Duke and Indiana, I think we could have gotten a higher seed.
They also said unbalanced conference schedules (second toughest in BE East) and non-conference schedules (Duke, Texas Tech, UW) would play a part. Yea i'll fall for that next year.
so how many committee members are from the Big Ten... all their bubble teams make it... yet Cuse, who wasn't a bubble team, left out... not to mention MU as an 8, Louisville a 6 (and if you are going by last 10, they would be higher), ND a 6, just a joke.

We got what we deserved, are you kidding me? Good Road/Neutral wins, second toughest Big East schedule, very good RPI, etc. Okay, our last 10 was not good, 5-5. First let me say that last 10 games is the STUPIDEST criteria ever invented. Why? Purdue with a what 8/9 seed was 7-3 last 10 games but they played Northwestern twice, Penn St. and Minnesota. Four games against 3 HORRIBLE TEAMS. Did we play anyone as bad in our last 10?
Duke 8-8 in conference, 4-7 last 11 games and we beat them.
Indiana 10-6 in conference, 5-5 last 10 games. We are just better than them.
Purdue 9-7 in conference record where they played 6 games against NW, Penn St. and Minn. twice. UW and Indiana once.
This seed is a joke!

All of tbhose teams enter the tournament with all of their top players. MU doesn't. We are without our second best player (some would argue best), who was the BE Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team all BE. We saw that team in teh BET, and they sure didn't look better than an 8 seed to me.
You nor the committee knows if McNeal will or will not be playing in the tourny. In addition, we went 2-1, splitting games against a 3 seed in the tourny without McNeal.

apparently you forget without McNeal we are 2-1... including a win against Pitt.
You don't know that the committee doesn't know that, but when the only thing coming from MU is "I hope I can come back," what possible reason is there for them to give MU teh benefit of the doubt.
We beat Pitt at home (barely), looked pretty weak against SJU who was without their best player, and we were dismantled by Pitt. What in that 3 game stretch suggests anything better than an 8 seed?

I doubt it...we're an 8 seed right now factoring in Jerel's injury...an 8 seed is still in the upper half of the bracket. I doubt we would be in the NIT but with the way the seeds went an 11 or 12 would not have been surprising.

would rather be a 12 or 11 seed instead of 8 in NC with UNC in the second round... give MU a 12 seed against Butler, and dismantle that team.

Legit points Naivin, except when you apply that same logic to Indiana, Duke, etc it seems to fall on it's face.
