When "Howdy Doody" on N.D.'s bench is yelling out a "f@ck yeah!" on a last second desperation 3 by N.D....that be ugly. As good as the first half was, 2nd half is a great equalizer...so far. Still plenty of time but we have to shoot more than 20% to win. C'mon MU....shut Mr. Doody's mouth.
oh well.
whatya gonna do.
:-\
pour a crown royal and get geared up for a huge week in the BEast for MU.
How N.D. is regarded as a top 20 team is beyond me....
playing scared
How this team blew us out 44-30 in the 2nd half is beyond me.
If ND isn't top 25 what the hell does that make us?

Probably a top 35 type team....like N.D.
ND has two wins over teams that were top 10 at the time and also beat Wisconsin and Gonzaga, which both beat us. They've earned a ranking.

I agree w/Niv - we played a top 25 team at their house and had come off a tough loss to us less than two weeks ago.... yeah Butler got shut out, Chris was a nonfactor, yeah I could go on but we lost by 5... I would be happy to see them in early March....
I agree with everybody tonight.
1. We got a terrible whistle. You do not want to be the road team and see Ed Hightower.
2. We were awful in the 2nd half even if you discount the officiating.
3. It took way too long to figure out how to attack the zone. It looked for a long while like we had never seen one before. Just passes around the perimeter and a contested jump shot.
4. Buzz should have called a time out after the putback dunk to cut the lead to 7 (I was screaming at the TV for him to do so.) Wasn't that big a deal as we got a TV timeout after it was down to 5 and came out from the timeout still flat and still not knowing what to do against the zone.
5. Otule is not awful, but he was awful tonight and he doesn't react to the ball off the rim and so is a brutally bad rebounder. He plays good initial defense and can score when guarded by a 6-6 guy, though.
6. When things were going bad, why not try something? A zone, 3/4 court trap, a press something?
7. I think its safe to say Buzz doesn't like to use the bench. Seems to me he's slowly losing confidence in Vander, and we're going to settle in with our usual 7 1/2 man rotation. A team that wants to play high speed like us should use more guys so we're fresher. It isn't just practice, you need to play in games to get better.
8. We would beat ND at least 4 out of 5 on a neutral floor, would love to see them again.

I know they have had some big wins but put them out of their own building and they are really suspect. A team that gets blown out at MU and at St. Johns seems like it has more issues than the 16th or 17th best team in college basketball. That is just my opinion...which could be heavily influenced by frustration from the game, a hatred for N.D., and liquid smarts.
I would love to see them again in the BEast tournament.

Our record against top 100 opponents out of our own building is now 0-6. Pot, kettle.

um...okay....I wasn't calling us a top 20 team.
thanks though.....
Mr. Pot
To their credit, they came back and beat both of those teams on their homecourt, and also beat Wisconsin (among others) on a neutral court. They may be overrated, but they're a better team with Scott, and had one of their worst nights of the season against us. I think calling them anything less than very good (though not great) would be doing them a disservice.

That win is gonna - if it hasn't already - mean squat.
Zags lost to Santa Clara AND San Francisco.
Don't tell me it's "conference play" either.
Plus, how does ND's lone win balance out 22 point and 15 point drubbings at MU and SJU, respectively?
I guess wins over UCONN and a fastly fading Gtown as ranked opponents count, though both were at ND.

+1. I laugh at the people who post stuff like that. they beat us and they still are overated.

ND's losses to MU and St. Johns came with Carleton Scott injured and unable to play.
The committee may well discount our Notre Dame win as coming over a a shorthanded team.
