I cannot imagine what is going on in the MU locker room. These kids have to be feeling 10 times worse than us as fans. Seriously. I hope there is no hangover effect...but it almost is hard to imagine there won't be.
Buzz needs to take ownership for this loss in the media..and put it on himself...though the players made a few mistakes..the biggest mistake that was made was 4 corners with 7 minutes left. We effectively took away our own edge. I PRAY that Buzz learns from this one.
He did. On the postgame show he said exactly that.
He SHOULD - I'm getting sick of his inability to manage the end game in tight spots. He's the equivalent of an upperclassman now - let's start seeing the goods! I really think he needs an assistant to help him in these situations. He HAS to know it's a deficiency.
i like watching his post-game pressers, where can I find it online if its not on gomarquette.com yet?
This is not the first time Buzz has made this mistake nor the first time it cost his team a win. It's ok to run some clock, but going ultra conservative sends a bad message to your team, and it cost hijm dearly today.
I also think doing that on the road is inexcusable knowing the home crowd will respond to any mini-run and his guys would get tight.

I couldn't agree more.
Talk is cheap, Buzz. Enough with the apologies, let's see some improvement.
Devil's advocate time-
Was it a case of him coaching them to slow down, or the players tightening up? Both?
Knowing Buzz's personality, I can't see him telling them to stop attacking. Not with their short bench and foul situation.

It was clear they were operating under Buzz's instruction.
There has to be a hangover after this debacle. Just need to win on Tuesday and move forward. This one is definitely on the coaching for slowing down. They had open looks to shoot or drive to the lane during L'Ville run and they'd back it out to burn clock. I understand being patient and being cognizant of clock and score but you have to convert open looks when they present themselves. How about a Lay-up or wide-open rule? Reliving the meltdown again and again on ESPN. Ouch. Man that was a horrific and painful loss. I pray they bounce back.

No, I needed the apology. He needed to take some ownership for what happened today. Improvement needs to come now.
Funny thing is there was a thread about not putting in the scrubs in the ND game. That was with about 4 minutes left, and me personally I thought that we should have gotten Fulce and/or Cadougan in there instead of starters. Then today he goes completely the other direction and stops playing with 6 minutes left in the game. WTF?

What I love about all the analysis (or, better description, "emotional over-reactions") is it NEVER takes into account the other team. Louisville scored 24 points in a little over 5 minutes (almost a 200 point-per-game pace). Knowles was unconsciousness. He was defended on most of those shots.
Give the 'ville some credit. We back off and that allowed them to hit their stride. After that, the Milwaukee Bucks would have had a tough time stopping them.

I agree - just found it interesting. Also, no one here said to do anything in the ND game as early as we did today. And why did Buzz not play prevent against ND with a big lead and then all of a sudden he does it today?

I get the feeling buzz is sensitive to how he is perceived. I go back to the WV win two years ago where we ran them out of the BC and huggie was peeved in his post-game presser. I think today he intentionally let up to be sportsmanlike and it bit him you know where.
Sportsmanship is for before and after the game. When you're on the court you need to disregard the other team's feelings and keep your foot on their neck. I hope this is a lesson to buzz that they need to show no mercy when they are up. Attack until the buzzer sounds.
Totally agree, 84.
They tightened up once it got to 11. I really doubt Buzz told them to go out there and play like they were holding a penny between their cheeks.

Ville played great. However, even at that pace there is no way they win the game if we continued to play in it for the last 6 minutes.
