This was worse than losing by 40 in 2006. Un effing believable.
That's what you get when you play not-to-lose instead of playing to win.
Agree... they stopped attacking the basket
NIT
Disgusting.
c'mon, buzz is a great guy!
be positive!
I'm truly embarrassed. I feel like the stink coming from our basketball coach's armpits has trickled onto my diploma.
I can't even look at myself in the mirror.

Go back to the basement Chicken Little
You're right, the NIT doesn't take chokers.
COULD SOMEONE REMOVE THE PIC OF BUYCKS FROM THE EFFING SOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might as well stick my head in a bucket of lye!!! Folded like a cheap lawn chair. Defense? Offense at the end of a game with an amazing commanding lead? INEXCUSABLE!!!!
told ya so about buycks. the guy is braindead. what is he doing going to the basket?
WHEN WILL F'ING BUZZ GET THE MEMO... CALL A FRIGGIN TIME OUT AT HALF COURT AND DRAW UP A HALF COURT PLAY! WE HAVE TRIED YOUR FULL COURT PLAYS MANY TIMES AND THEY DON'T WORK! AND SLOWING DOWN THE OFFENSE IS FINE... AS LONG AS YOU START YOUR PLAY AT THE 10 SECOND CLOCK AND NOT THE 3! THIS TEAM IS RIDICULOUS.
ALSO, GOING TO THE LINE IS GREAT WHEN YOU MAKE FREE THROWS...
I hate being beat by ricky loseville why did we stop playin they didn'nt practice pressure defence caudogan has no confidence running the team
Stop with all the negativity. Our coach says we have wonderful human beings on our team. That's all that matters people!
I couldn't believe buycks' last possession its elementary.
good thing i wasn't drinking for this game, stuff would have been broken...
My only problem with this thread title is "last decade". What loss 11 years ago was worse than this? What loss ever was worse than blowing an 18-point lead with under 6:00 to play? Absolutely pathetic. No excuse. My stomach is in knots. I've never felt so physically sick after a game as I do right now. Worst loss I've ever seen in Marquette history.

where is the teal! we don't need sarcasm right now!
With our upcoming schedule we are in serious trouble. When you can steal a road win against top 20 team you have to make it happen. I am beyond stunned. We played not to lose for six minutes and lost. Shame on you Buzz Williams!!!!

Blowing the 20 point leasd to Washington n the 2nd half of an NCAA tournament game is worse than this.

I'm not sure about that. That took a lot longer, and while it was the tourney, it wasn't Louisville. I didn't feel this disgusted after Washington.
Definitely in the top 5. Hilarious to see nomorebuycks come out of the woodwork. Awful, awful loss. I love Buzz, but this loss is squarely on him. He is turning into the Mike McCarthy of close games. It's year 3, time to learn from our numerous close losses in the last 2 years. I need a beer.
Louisville is not a top 20 team . It's all Pitino hype

1st round NCAA 2007 loss to Sparty. Most stagnant and stale effort by our team ever. Pitiful.
At least this game was exciting. We've lost plenty of games like this to Louisville in the last decade. I'm remembering at least four distinct one-basket defeats to these guys since 2000 when Crum was still coaching.

I suppose you really enjoyed Cadougan gagging on a 1-and-1 late and passing it RIGHT TO Knowles on that press, too? C'mon, an epic retch job like this requires
teamwork.

In Buzz we trust!
Nomorebuycks... Crawl back into your hole please. Nobody buys your crap.
That said... This is the kind of loss that wrecks a team. With their upcoming schedule they are in serious trouble. Tourney almost certainly out of the question. I hope I'm wrong but I would not be surprised to see this team fold.

They had a clear shot in the lane. They weren't going to get anything better than that.
But they took their foot off the gas way too early.

Nothing comes close to this. Nothing. The game against MSU was at least over 4 minutes in...this was a disaster.

Oh, I'd say the 15 point lead in the NCAA tournament last year could go down as one of the worst in the decade as well.

Nah, McNeal didn't play and pretty much everyone knew going in that was going to be a tough affair for that reason.

Cadougan--2 TO's; Buycks--5. And he had another two that we retained possession on.
This is awful. I said with 6 to play "well, if we can't beat them at the buzzer, I'd be happy with the biggest ever win over UL at their new arena". And then that happens. And as soon as they cut it to 11, I had a feeling it'd come down to the last possession, and the bile rose in my throat for that agonizing 5 minute stretch. Absolutely horrendous.
This is still a good team. This is still a team that should be able to pull off some upsets and get into the tourney. But this is a dark, dark day in MU basketball lore. This will instantly jump into the top 3 on that "Louisville-Marquette" game list we've been discussing this week, and for me feels worse than Reece Gaines, which was awful.
Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh.

As sick as I am over this loss (on a scale of 1-10 about 100), I'm infinitely more sick of you. You're an absolute embarrassment to anyone who went to Marquette. Is there anyone other than the moderators who doesn't want you banned?

Seriously mods, it's time to take out the trash. Why you've let him survive this long is baffling.

I wish Junior would not have used a year of eligibility last year. It would be nice if he was a redshirt freshmen to give him another year to develop his shot.
How do you play soft and not to lose with that much time left? Does Buzz not know that UL scores in bunches? I thought everybody knew that. 5 minutes to go against UL is an eternity considering how quickly they accumulate points. When you play against a team of that intense of a defense and who is able to score so quickly, you absolutely cannot turn the ball over. Buzz blew this big time and should be suspended. Unbelievable.

+1. I'm gald i'm on the exact page as someone.
One of the other mods got to NMB before I could. Dimes was banned again for his 800th personal attack last week.
In terms of losing a game that was won, this is the worst that I can remember by far. The losses to Alabama, Stanford, Missouri and Washington were worse because they were games we should have won that also ended our season.

Agreed. This one sucks a little more because it's Pitino and we have the moral high ground on him. Of course, I'd trade that in a heartbeat for a W today! ;D
