Title: What does the committee do with Virginia.
Post by: Marquette84 on March 10, 2007, 03:37:19 PM

By any normal standard, Virginia is an NIT team.

RPI: 54
Non Conf Record 9-4 (losses to Utah, App State, Stanford, Utah)
Non-Conf SOS 173
19-10 overall
Road/Neutral:  3-9
Last 10:  6-4
3 losses in the last five games, including two bad ones to #155 Miami and #122 Wake
Bad lossses:  Wake Forest, Miami, Utah
Good wins:  Arizona, Maryland, Duke.

Oh, yeah.  They tied for the ACC title.

This has to be the most inconsistent team in college basketball.  And a demonstration that with unbalanced schedules ANYTHING can happen.

If this team were in the A10, CUSA, MVC, B12, P10 Big 10, Big East--virtually any other conference--they wouldn't get in.  Period.

Yet some say that Virginia is likely to get a 6 seed.

College basketball is very mediocre this season. Steal a National Title while you can because it can't get any worse. At times, it feels like the NFL.

Agreed...some unexpected team gets the right match-ups, they could go a long, long way.

Yesterday one of the college shows put up a graphic comparing two teams against each other and they were exactly the same except for road/neutral W/L.  The teams were App st. and Virginia.  App st has something like a 13-3 road/neutral record - and they beat Virginia.  Who deserves to get in??
