Anybody out there have any info on who we might have a chance on next year? I realize it is early, but it is always interesting to see who we could get. I looked at Rivals which has not been updated in a while and see the following mentioned: 6' 7" Alex Poythress, Tn; 6'3" Jamal Ferguson. Va.; 6'10" Phil Nolan, W.Va.; 6'8" Malik London, Ohio; 6'6" JP Tokoto; 6'7" Cimmeon Bowers, Milwaukee; 6'8" Wannah Bail, Tx.; 6'4" Marcus Smart, Tx.; 6'5" Dejuan Marrero, Ind.; 6'4" Gary Harris, Ind.; 6'9" Mitch McGary, N.H.; 6'10" Prince Ibeh. It would be great if we could land a Center/PF, a SF and a 2G. Best order of prioroty IMO would be:
Center/PF Phil Nolan-believe he may have some Wisconsin ties; Wannah Bail (what a name--any relation to Chico's?); Prince Ibeh (another great name)
SF: Obviously Tokoto
2G: Gary Harris/Marcus Smart/Jamal Ferguson
Any body have any current info on the above?
Dejuan Marrero recently visited MU while he was in town for Mark Miller's tournament. Pretty much the entire big ten is recruiting him.
According to ESPN we're also in on top 20 PF Jarnell Stokes.

Nolan is from Milwaukee. He transferred to a prep school in West Virginia.

That is true, but we have not heard much about how they will be used. Who are we still after, that sort of thing.
Really hope Tokoto turns out to be one of them. Anyone have recent info on him?

Would love to see him at MU, but most of what you hear is that it will be North Carolina or Duke. No inside info however--anybody else have any?
MU reportedly is involved with Elijah Macon, a 6'8" PF from Ohio. He initially verballed to West Virginia, then re-opened his recruitment.
Scout gives him four stars and ranks him the #14 PF in his class and #51 overall.
Rivals also gives him four stars and ranks him #44 overall.
ESPN gives him a 95.
Looks like Tennessee, WVU and Cincy are his other main suitors.

Those three with MU ?? One of these four just doesn't belong with the others

JP Tokoto (2012 WF) and Bronson Koenig (2013 PG) to visit North Carolina the weekend of February 19th for the Boston College game.
Wish we would just concentrate on recruiting two good big men - 6"10 plus.

So now that we have two serviceable big guys, one a sophomore and one a freshman, you want 2 more big men?
Our PG position needs to be reinforced with Buycks graduating.

Not too mention, our three best shooting threats (DJO, Crowder, and Buycks) one is gone next year, and two will be seniors. Keep in mind too Skat, Jamil will also be playing a good deal of post next year too, so that gives us Ox: Soph, Otule: Junior and Jamil: Soph
Marquette is on top of J.P. Tokoto list.

We did get a commitment on a point guard in the current class right. How is he rated?

UNC & MU are on top of list. His family and Buzz will be the main factors in why I think JP will pick MU.

This might be a Reggie Smith joke? I'll ignore that potentiality.
Juan Anderson (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Juan-Anderson-98713) committed. He's listed at 6'6" 200lbs, and the reports say he's still growing. I guess he could play point-forward because he reportedly has some ball-handling skills. :)

I think he's referring to Derrick Wilson.
Derrick Wilson is the PG that signed his LOI. His general ranking would be the same as Reggie Smith out of High school. He is somewhere in between JR and Reggie. in regards to size and playing ability. 6-1 210 more athletic then JR, more of a point guard then reggie. probably a better shooter then both coming out of High school.

Are you sure about this? I have heard something very different in terms of where Marquette stands with JP.
Although I did see him walking around the hallways at the Bradley Center at halftime of the West Virginia game, and he seemed to be having a good time.
I hope your sources are right and mine are wrong.

I understand why you think he will play the post (similar mold to what Lazar and Butler have been...6'7"ish wings who move to the post because we don't have anybody else in that position) but to me Jamil is much, much more a wing than a post. He'll be the second tallest player on our team, but having him on the block would be the same mistake that Falls makes by putting JP Tokoto down there. It hides his strengths. Those two remind me a lot of each other. JP probably has tighter ball handling but Jamil definitely has the better jump shot.

If it helps, he's also being recruited by Xavier and Dayton.
To answer an earlier question, he's class of 2012.

Holy Cow--how can anybody argue with a guy's mother. That would be great news, but even if it is true, still competing against UNC.
Jamil will not be playing the post. He is much more of a slasher like Butler. We have Otule, Gardner and Crowder next year for that.

I agree I just didn't know if the person actually talked to JP's mother himself or if he just heard it from somebody who heard it from somebody who heard it from somebody's mother who is friends with his mother.
JP has been 6'6 since he was a sophomore. Has he grown at all? Might he grow like Anderson to 6'8+?

More importantly a PG that hopefully doesn't expect 15-20 minutes a game from day 1.
Think we need a 2 guard. Jamal Ferguson would be my first choice ;)

Koenig must really be able to play. He's listed at 6'1" 160 on Scout. Had 4 offers before his sophomore year and now several more including UNC. At first glance he just doesn't look like a player you'd expect to be that high caliber. Would like to see more of him.

Wilson will not be playing in the post. He is an outside player not an interior player.

Here the scoop, I would take it with a grain of salt. The story is true, but what is JP's mom going to say.
At the high school toury over the holiday that Mark Miller ran, Mem. Falls was in the toury. A person that I know well, was at every damm high school game at this thing.
He talked to JP's mom and said to her, "There are alot of coaches better than Buzz, but I don't think anyone cares more about his players in life and in the classroom than Buzz." She told him, " You are correct, that is why Marquette is one of JP's top schools on his long list."

Like you said, what is JP's mom going to say? They won't rule anything out, and she pretty much let the guy speak his piece, then agreed and said Marquette's on a long list. One of his top schools could mean we're in the top 10 out of 20. Personally I think we're higher than that, considering he attends games here, has been to our past two Marquette Madness events, was with the team for Selection Sunday, Buzz's Barbeque...I do think we're probably in the top 5 or so, but it's hard to gauge where considering how much interest JP has garnered.
