Tennessee tied with Florida right now with 3 minutes to go and maymon hasn't checked in.

Was in during the first half. Was clogging the middle, but otherwise, didn't see him do stink.

kind of hard for the offense to run through him when he is on the bench...

what about that article that said a starting position was open when he became eligible?

I was surprised as hell he wasn't in at the end of regulation or overtime.  Here's his line, the first number being minutes:



Jeronne Maymon, F   5   0-0   0-0   0-0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0


No wonder Tennessee lost.

Might have to do with Pearl not being the coach.  The assistant taking over hasn't been annoyed enough by Timmy to put Maymon in and run the offense around him.

I think you mean "through" him, not "around" him.

Why would he have to?
Harris is a 4. Maymon is a 2/3. Everybody knows that!

I was saddened and shocked that Tim M. was not named the interim coach while Pearl sits....

Seriously, I wish Jeronne would have divorced his father and stayed at MU.  He would have been logging major minutes this year and contributing.  He showed signs last year of a good rebounder, passer and someone who can get points around the basket.   He also does have a decent mid range shot.    The whole situation for him, as a person, is sad.

Who would he be logging major minutes over? Butler? Crowder? Otule? I for one is glad he's gone because he may have taken minutes from Crowder early that may have delayed his breakout. Yeah he would be a major upgrade from Fulce but he wouldn't be happy in the role.

You make a good point.   Perhaps Buzz does not even go after Crowder if Maymon is still on the team which would have been a major major loss for our program as Crowder is turning out to be a complete stud.   Or, maybe the roster stays locked if he was still at MU and we don't get Wilson (who will be very good next year).   Anyway, assuming somehow he was on the team, I think he would be spelling the 3,4, and 5 spots but especially the 4 and 5 lik Buzz was using him last year.  He is a big body and if you watch him he is usually in position and can board.   We could have used that this year, especially during stretches where we were giving up a lot of offensive rebounds. 

But, it is speculative as Crowder adds a new dimension and an upgrade over JMay.   I just think if he had stuck with the program, he would have improved as well and, frankly, I was fairly impressed with his play as a freshman.

Playing the same position as he did at MU and playing a little more than 1/2 as many minutes.

I look at the total package and in this case, being able to get Jae while jettisoning Tim Maymon, makes this a very good ezxchange.

Maymon gave us Jae Crowder and Vander Blure and for those two reasons alone I will be always grateful for his contributions to the MU program.
