someone, who will remain nameless (for now), has picked ND (scum sucking pig dogs that they are!) to beat us by 14 points. That just sucks! The day I pick ND, the whinning, cry baby, puke faces they are, to beat MU is the day you can put dirt on top of me and piss on cold dead body!!!!
Jump up dude, that's what makes for a horserace. And, how have you fared in the contest? Check out the Hall of Fame. Some interesting names are inscribed there as well.

Well yesterday we had a lot of people pick MU over Pittsburgh....how did that go? ;)
I thought the point of predictions was to, you know, predict. If it's a contest of WHO DO YOU WANT TO WIN, maybe that's the one you should be joining.
And I thought the point of a fan website was to have actual fans not somebody more interested in winning a contest so their name can be on the wall of fame.
The Blue and Gold kool-aid drinkers hang on the other board.

Huh? The point of a fansite is to talk about the team, good and bad, highs and lows. Maybe we should change the rules of the prediction contest then to not pick a winner of the game, we'll just predict how everyone does, and while we're at it we'll make sure everyone gets a trophy. :-\
Picking ND by 14 is a bit ignorant of our team, however. I'm not saying ND can't win the game, but I've pointed out before the simple truth that Buzz's teams very rarely lose games by double-digits. They've lost one game by double-digits since March 5, 2009. And only once in Buzz's career has Marquette ever lost a home game by double-digits, against UConn in the game where Dominic James broke his foot about a minute in.
Picking any team to beat us by 14 at home is pretty much just dumb. Could it happen? Yes. And monkeys could also fly out of my butt. There's no statistical justification to actually expect it, especially out of a Marquette fan.
If we lose by 14 at home to the hated ND, there better be some big time changes coming. That would be totally inexcusable and unacceptable. There is no excuse for ND to beat us/

Care to elaborate on what type of "big time changes" you think should be made?

How about if they are the better team?
I predict the final score with my heart not my head...which means I always pick MU to win. Do I always think they're really going to win? Nope. I don't care if other people predict based on what they think will happen or if they pick based on what they want to happen or if they pick in an effort to get people talking about them. It's a prediction contest solely for fun. Who cares?
Wow, nice to see the gestapo board is alive and well. These are opinions. No more or less valid than anyone elses.
And this is why I don't participate in the picking contest. I was unaware it was a form of loyalty oath.

Isn't MU something like 99-151 against Ranked teams? I'd imagine that record is even worse if you look at MU's record against teams ranked in the Top 10-15 -which is where Notre Dame is ranked. Hopefully it doesn't happen that MU loses to ND, but if it does - there should have been some big time changes in our past when Al, Hank, Rick, Kevin, Mike and Tom lost games against Top 10 teams.

So if we win by 14 we should give buzz a life time contract. Thats almost as assinine as what you are saying.
How about this: If willie makes one more unreasonaable negative post that sets up the coach and team in case they fail, then willie should be banned from posting. That would be totally inexcusable and unacceptable.
Every poster here has the right to treat the prediction contest however he or she wants. You can decline to participate. You can treat it as a prediction contest and try to predict what actually will happen, or you can use it to show that you're a great fan and will pick Marquette to win no matter what. Each approach is equally viable, and none is evidence that someone is a "bigger" fan than anyone else.
Like a lot of people here, I'm becoming a big fan of Jae Crowder. It just so happens that when I completed my predictions for today's game, I did not pick Crowder to lead the team in scoring, assists, rebounds and three point shots. That doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan of his. It doesn't mean I think he sucks. It just means that today I think someone will exceed him in those categories.

Stop trying to sabatoge the board with these types of reasonable assertions and logical conclusions.

Now this is what I'm talking about, Award for best prediction goes to MU B2002..MU 100 ND 3. Second place to Victor McCormick MU 100 ND 1
I tried to be realistic, I know they will hit at least one 3 against our "defense"

Hmm, realistic, yet the alternate math universe is strange:

1. Total Game Points: 149
2. MU points: 100
3. ND points: 3
...
Bonus Question: 2 part. 3 points. Does ND shoot below or above their 45% field goal average? How much more or less to the nearest whole number. Above by 1%
It all works out in the end. ;D
The three totals do not have to correspond.

...and just b/c people choose us to lose in the "Prediction Contest" doesn't mean it will happen....the only thing that has an impact on us winning is which jerseys we wear....duhhhhhhhhh
