No topic started yet by Bailbondsmen on UW-M shellacking Butler?? UW-M Up 23 with 2 minutes left?? The same UW-M team who is God awful and DePaul beat by 14?
Butler the current 18th ranked RPI team?? MU just beat WVU which is 12 in the current RPI ratings. Can't believe how screwed we are at this point given our low RPI -as clearly current RPI rankings mean so much.
But I guess Uw-M winning is good for MU.

Here is a link to current RPI ratings:

Good for them....are they above .500 yet? I sure hope so. I lost track of Butler this year after they lost to powerhouse Evansville at home, destroyed by Louisville...how are they doing? Seriously, no idea how they are doing as they've been off the map out here on the west coast.
UW-hypen-milwaukee just hired a new AD, perhaps Jeter and the gang turned it up a notch today. Probably a good thing, that 24 point loss the other day to Wright State right after the 3 point win over 2-9 Bowling Green didn't have him on rock solid ground. Jeter is a good guy, hope he can last there.

Good for MU I guess, though UWM is still weak and Butler isn't what it once was with Cleveland State becoming the team to beat in the Horizon. As for your RPI statement, this article by Gary Parrish with help from Jerry Palm from a few years back is one I always keep in mind when looking at RPI numbers this early in the season. It echos your sentiments-it's fun to watch it trend (hopefully upward), but it means nothing for a few more weeks:

Thanks for the link to the RPI article - I hadn't seen that before. It seems there has been unnecessary obsession with our low RPI thus far by some - and hopefully this can put those who are uneasy about our current low RPI at peace for the time being.

You shouldn't pick on Buzz like that and his obsession toward the RPI going back to early December
It always starts out low and shoots up as conference play starts. It's shot up from 163 (I think) from before the Vandy game to 120 now. They're a combined 19-6. Sometimes all it takes is playing teams with good records.
Where's MU Panther? Like to get his insight on this game.

Don't know if they're 7-8 or 8-8. They are sixty (60) places higher than Indiana, though.

Define 'his obsession'. Does he care what the latest current RPI is on a daily or weekly basis in November and December like you do? Doubtful. Sigh... those pesky little details always get in the way!

Hay! What a great game.
Butler doesn't press, which helps the Panthers.
UWM shot 55% for the game and beat Butler on the boards 36-24.
Hill, Meier and Boyle had a great game. PG, Kaylon Williams had a triple-double.
UWM's overtime win at Detroit on New Year's Day might be the turning point for this team.
First triple double for UWM since 1993 I believe I saw. Great all-around game for them and congrats!

No worse than mine...he monitors it daily. No obsession in my opinion, just fun to watch....I wasn't the one that was ripping on someone for following the RPI in December, Ners was....and by doing so he's ripping on Buzz. Tsk tsk

Cool, so they might be at .500 now. That's terrific. I'm sure you realize they are ranked ahead of Marquette right now as well, assuming the "60 places" is the RPI...wasn't sure since you were so vague.

Actually Chicos - Buzz doesn't monitor RPI daily - and he's certainly not obsessed with it. Pretty sure the only individual in the MU community that's been obsessed with it this early is the guy who felt a compelling need to create a "signature" in his posts updating MU's ratings - RPI, Pomroy, Nolan, Saragin - ironically at the very time our rankings were the worst of the year. Pretty sure Buzz's focus is on his own teams performance, measurables such as paint touches, free throw differntial, effective FG% offense and defense...and pays no mind to RPI until February, and even at that it isn't beyond a glance.

I have no dog in this ongoing fight but if I remember correctly I think buzz specifically referenced RPI numbers in his UWM post game interview. I could be wrong on which game that was.

He sure did. He knows exactly what the RPI is, the formula down to a tee (enough so that he mentioned in a press conference, only coach I've ever recalled going that into detail on the RPI...hell, most of the coaches I've worked with have no clue how the RPI works), where we were ranked, etc.
Now Ners can say what he wants, but in the daily sheets the previous staff and this one used to get (I call them daily sheets, I don't know what the term is they use and I assume they still get these daily or almost daily updates) it has all that stuff in there. Rankings, etc, etc.

But Chicos does know Buzz personally and knows "he monitors it daily." He knows this by virtue of the previous regime having it on their daily fact sheets. As I said, earlier, to think Buzz obsesses about our RPI in November and December is ridiculous.
Do we really think any NCAA Division 1 basketball coach doesn't have a clue as to what goes into RPI, and what his teams RPI is?? No.
Do we think that any coach really thinks his teams RPI in November has any merit? No.
Do we know that our resident board expert on all things college basketball, Buzz Williams, Tom Crean, DJ Newbill, Senator Lugar, Mike Rice, Jerry Palm, and any of the other "in the know" names he perpetually drops - felt the need to bring up our RPI in early December and start the paranoia parade on MU's season before conference play even started?? Yes.
Do we know that said individual feels a compelling need to create threads devoted to UWM losing to DePaul..yet goes dark when UWM socres a quality win over a very highly ranked current RPI team?? Yes.

Nope, I've only met him once. Never claimed to know him, but I do know people in the Athletic Department and what information is passed back and forth, etc. I know enough about what information is provided routinely (or at least what info was provided.
And yes, Ners, I can tell you flat out some coaches have no idea what goes into the RPI...I can tell you one that worked at MU as head coach for a number of years. Again, you don't know what you're talking about.
Did I start the RPI to cause paranoia? Nope....did your brain go there because that's where it always goes...yup. Most importantly, the RPI is used by the NCAA (among other tools) for picking NCAA teams. With a poor RPI in December, it means a harder time to improve it in February....games played in December do count Ners. This is why our projected RPI is the one to watch and all those games played in December contribute.
Finally, I wasn't silent at all about UW-hyphen-milwaukee beating Butler. You started the thread and I responded. Where was I silent? Did you want me to start a thread that you already started?
Anything else on your mind today? Do you want a picture with a kiss on it so you can put it on your nightstand?
PS...I don't know Lugar, friends with a few on his Senate staff.

Well, I am glad you are proving to be the bigger man here.
Has it ever occurred to you that you don't need to take up the cause every time Chicos types a post? Especially not on behalf of Buzz, or 'the rest of the posters on this board', or Marquette's players? If your plan is to change his mind, I can tell you (as can many others) that his mind on most things is made up. On things that it isn't he will be vague, sarcastic, or change the topic. I can also tell you that this is exactly how you are... as are most of the people on this or any message board.
It just seems that you try to stake up a crusade once a week, the final goal of which is completely uncertain.
Is the goal to try to discredit CBB? To point out that he makes some stuff up? To show that he is hypocritical?
If the answer is yes, then by God, life is sure going to be rough for you; because the world is full of these people...

Good points...and as we know the definition of insanity is doiing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results....
Yes, Chicos is a catalyst for the insanity of many here...and yes I will continue, on occasion (not all occasions or all posts), to call the tool out..because his opionions/agenda differ greatly from my own - therefore a consistent disconnect. Then again, I could also be the bigger person and realize the CBB is simply an attention starved diva, who posts provocative content in the desperate need for attention that all drama queens need. I will make a concerted effort moving forward to not feed the queen.

When passive readers of Scoop log on and post comments regarding how insufferable you make this board, that should provide you all the clarity you need. You are far more transparent than you realize. You really need to come out of the closet on a lot of levels - you'd probably find it liberating, instead of having to continue to manufacture lie after lie after lie...and manipulation after manipulation after manipulation. The reality is that anytime someone posts something negative about Tom Crean..you cry bloody murder...but then you perpetuate negative insinuations about Buzz Williams..shrouded behind "your sources," and occasional couched comments like: I like Buzz Williams, I really do. I think he's a nice man and a good coach - and Tom Crean is an ass, I worked for the guy..I'd be the first to tell you.
Statements like these don't carry a lot of weight when you have history of defending the one guy over and over and over, while crucifying our current coach on most anything you are able to find. Loved the VAnderbilt game aftermath..where you sate.."we played really well and competed but then again Vanderbilt was missing one of their starters." Hey, let's go try to minimize our good performance by making it seem that we were only close due to Vandy missing a starter (a guy who averages 6 points a game). Insignificant...Or let's start threads discussing how bad Memphis is beating Centenary, or how bad DePaul beat UWM...like I said..transparent..your agenda. I'd tell you to "man up" as you like to throw out around here but seriously..it just doesn't seem you are capable..probably for biological reasons...as no MAN behaves in the way you do.
Can we start a collection amongst us 'Scoopers so that we can get Chicos and Ners to a central location so they can just duke it out and get it over with? That would make this a much more pleasant place.
