Title: Cadougan, Williams, Gardner and Jones
Post by: nomorebuycks on January 01, 2011, 01:18:12 PM
Are their struggles (in games and practice) due simply to youth or are their respective talent levels just not going to be up to BE level?

Cadougan was a top 50 guy.  What was he doing in high school that he isn't doing now?

Not everyone is going to play..

MU fans better get used to it cause this is what happens when you recruit 10, 11 high level players.

Transfers happen, the cream rises and stays.

To rip off a Nike commercial, you play for the name on the front NOT for the name on the back.

Butler and Crowder have shown they deserve the minutes, as Buzz says every position is important,
all three are defensive liabilities.  Buzz sees it every day in practice.  Remember, Trevon Hughes, even
Jordan Taylor, they barely got off the bench at Wisco.  Noreen did not play today, the Riley kid at Syracuse,
not even sure he is still there, never gets off the bench.  Gasser is playing because there is no one else,
freshman have no idea how hard it is.  Vander plays because he can play D, as his offense is minimal
at best right now.  He saw open threes all day today and did not try one, good team player, it seems
he even knows his limitations.  I see him as the point next year, with DJO, Wilson, Crowder and Otule.
Sub time will be up for grabs.  Ox, Anderson or Jones, Wilson or Cadougan, Wilson.  MU needs one other
player to give them some serious time,  any JC still available?  At point guard or PF?

When they play defense to Buzz' standards they will play.   Cadougan still makes some mistakes, but I look at him as the 4th guard this year.

Yeah they're not even as good as Buycks.

This wasn't JC's type of game with the zone, and West Virginia's guards were playing so well I think buzz was afraid to play Jones.  As far as Williams and Gardner...I think Buzz is good with JB, Jae, Fulce and Otule.  You couldn't take Jae out of the game today, so that doesn't give a ton of minutes to the others.  I liked Buzz's rotation today, with the exception that I thought he subbed for his starting 5 a bit too early.

Eventually I think Gardner will take some of Otule's minutes and E-Will will obviously have ample opportunities next year if he continues to improve.

Remember these guys are only one injury away from getting a lot more minutes of course. And it's nice for once to actually have a few Top 100 players on the bench that you can substitute in at the guard and forward spots. If we lost a key player to injury now it wouldn't be quite as devastating as it would've been the past few years.

Look at WVU they have a top 50 soph that played about 5 minutes today and has not done much in his first 2 years in Danny Jennings.
Too much hype being built on freshman.  Truth is very few star in year 1 or do much

Nomorebuycks you light the board up with 4+ topics the second the clock runs out when we lose....was enjoying the silence from you for the first few hours after the W today but here you are posting with a negatively toned thread. Well done.

Why do you guys even talk to the kid (nomorebuycks)?

It's been obvious for awhile he's a troll.

I am amazed at the progresss Buycks has made since last year.  Cadougan after 30 games will also be vastly improved.  He is a basically a Frosh this year.
