Jamail JonesI don't like this feeling!!!!!
Reggie averaged 10 minutes a game and Jamail only averages 8.4 and he was a bigger recruit. I really hope he can withstand the Ewill treatment this year. I may be reading into this a little too much, or is there cause for concern?
My guess is that he's disappointed with the way the team is falling short in tough games and doesn't like the feeling of losing in the final seconds.
I'd like to think Jamail is smart enough to know that he needs to talk to the coaches (not his "tweeps") if he has an issue with his role on the team.

he also plays the same position as JFB. He ain't gonna get much run this year.

Don't jinx Jimmah!
Jamail will be needed. His stroke, when it comes around, will be needed.

I'm not saying that I am upset with his PT, just that he may be. I can see why he isn't playing...Lack of D and same position as JFB. I'm just wondering if he sees it that way. I would like if he was just upset with his teams performance because that is a sign of a kid that will work hard to improve. Don't know if that is the case though.

Let's hope your reason is correct. He'll get his chance to earn more PT...hopefully next year though.
The EWill treatment? EWill is just getting what he deserves.

Sorry I must have missed the part where I said he didn't deserve it. You don't play D you don't play, that's what treatment E Will got. Some kids take it as a sign that they need to improve and some kids see it as the coach being unfair. This is why I said Jones can withstand it and improve.
Today's athlete wants playing time. Splinter time won't set you up for the Never Broke Again league. While there is no "I" in team, there is "me."
Hoping Jamail hangs around. Dude has talent.
Looking at all the Top 100 RSCI ranked players in the 2010 class, only 8 players who have suited up this season have seen less minutes on the court than Jamail Jones thus far. (13 players have redshirted, not qualified, been suspended, etc...)
In terms of minutes per game, only 6 players in the RSCI Top 100 form 2010 are playing fewer minutes per game. I'm sure this is what is frustrating him.
8.4 mpg - Jamail Jones #74
8.3 mpg - Casey Prather #52 (Florida)
6.5 mpg - Mychal Parker #55 (Maryland)
6.4 mpg - Jordan McRae #40 (Tennessee)
6.0 mpg - Crandall Head #76 (Illinois)
4.1 mpg - Daniel Bejarano #70 (Arizona)
3.7 mpg - Stacey Poole #50 (Kentucky)

Not sure if I'd call it the "Never Broke Again" league, given the amount of former NBA players that end up filing for bankruptcy. ::)
Also, except for Josh Shelby at Kansas and Dominique Ferguson at Florida International, who have just started playing the 2nd semester, the following six players in the 2010 RSCI Top 100 have the fewest games played:
8 - Jamail Jones #74
7 - Jordan McRae #40 (Tennessee)
7 - Daniel Bejarano #70 (Arizona)
7 - Crandall Head #76 (Illinois)
7 - Melvin Tabb #93 (Wake Forest)
6 - Mychal Parker #55 (Maryland)
6 - James Bell #65 (Villanova) (former HS teammate of Jones)
how long did you spend looking up the stats for every kid on the RSCI 100 list?

+1
It took a couple hours to look up the stats. The stats for Eric Williams are pretty bad too compared to his class of Top 100 recruits.

That should help recruiting in the future for kids that want to play right away.
If Buzz loses him people here are not going to be happy.

not happy is an understatement
Maybe he is having relationship issues.
Maybe the girls in McCormick aren't treating him well.
Maybe he is having family issues.
Maybe he doesn't have a good feeling after eating a big bowl of Real Chili.
Maybe you wierdos should stop reading his twitter/facebook posts.
Maybe you should stop assuming things you likely know nothing about.

I would think the top hundos would be looking at vanders time and saying if he can get that much Pt so can I.
JJ, he gone!

Agree with all of the above. And maybe he should stop tweeting that stuff.

And as a Marquette fan this makes you happy in some way?
I hope it's something else other than PT.
If it is PT, does he see the defense he plays. Homer said on the postgame show that he has never seen a backdoor play. ?-(
Homer mentioned Jamail Jones in the Vandy post game show? Jones didn't even get in the game.

Have you seen DJO's defense, or Butler's defense? It's awful, Butler gets a pass because he's so good offensively. JJ is probably one of the top 3 shooters on the team, and college basketball is largely a jump shooting league with the 3 point line so short....get him in the effing game. Why does Junior or Fulce play ahead of him? I'd be upset to.

AMEN
JJ is turnover prone. Butler's defense is soft. I think DJO's is average.
I hope that JJ gets some minutes, but he will not take them from Jr. who right now is only getting 8 to 10. JJ is not a PG. The knock on him by Buzz is that his defense must improve. He has not played much to see if it is or not.
I can't decide if I find this thread hilarious or embarassing.
A bunch of grown men are sitting around trying to decode a couple of incredibly vague Twitter posts from a college kid...and, of course, they go directly to the worst case scenario. Seriously, get a life.

There is more then enough evidence this season that the Buzz mantra of "you have to be tough to play"/"you have to be a defender first to play" is bullshit.
Its a terrible defensive team that has shown not one ounce of improvement in 13 games. The guys getting into the game in front of Jones aren't doing anything to establish themselves so definitively ahead of Jones on the defensive end.
At this rate, the horrendous defensive skills of the team are so bad that Vander is going to go from a very good defender to an average defender simply by having to play with four guys who can't guard a cookie jar.
The team is lost. And there is no captain. Burial at sea is imminent.
I can't coach, and I certainly don't w the psych end of the coaching business. But what I would have liked to have seen is Jamail Jones and others (Erik) get more playing time int he garbage games where the end was never in doubt. This is how they will develop real in-game skills. I understand the practice end - you play how you practice. But I also beleive you have to see what these guys can do on the florr in a game. My only disappointment, is that these guys did not get more when it didn't count - safe time to develop in-game, on-floor skills.
But who am I? Just a fan.

Which is
THE STORY when a player was a top 100 recruit. If he'd been in for 3 minutes, there probably wouldn't have been a comment by Homer or a 30+ comment thread on MUScoop.
As a long time fan , I would be VERY disappointed if JJ "is gone"

unlike so many on this board, jamail actually has a life
outside of marquette basketball that may be troubling him.
