Anyone in Nashville for the game tonight?  We are having a few high life's at the Paradise Park.  Anyone have a plan for post game?

Hey, I'm at my crib in The Quon, but were I in Nashiville, looking up Carrie Underwood would be on my after-game agenda. If for no other reason, than to make JayBee jealous.

Wish I was in town.  Just moved after seven years there.  If you want good live music after game, avoid tootsies and go to Roberts.  (Assuming you are not a Nashville resident.). It is the opposite side of Broadway from Paradise Park.

I'm glad I'm not there.  MU looks like DePaul in cool uniforms.  This team blows.  Can't play D and their guards are weak.  That equates to a long year.  Jimmy Butler will have a productive career in Turkey.

Look...I realize I'm bitter as all get out, but I have lived through this my whole life.  I love MU but I am sick of coming close and take no solace in coming close.  Plus I'm stuck in Badgerland and I will take boat loads of crap if/when they lose.  Hence I am wrought w/negativity.

Some observations from Memorial Gymnasium:

-As has been said many times, that is one of the strangest court/arena layouts ever. I guess it can be called a homecourt advantage, but t doesn't make much sense and is not practical.

-Very weak student presence as a result of their location. Maybe it's better when school is in session, but they are located in such an area where it doesn't really hurt the opponents.

-Did not feel good when I saw Burr before the game started.

-A poorly officiated game on both sides. Neither team had an advantage. MU had an early bonus in the first half, Vandy in the 2nd.

-The least aggressive fanbase ever. I stood cheering loudly several times and didn't get one "shut up" or "sit down". Southern hospitality I guess.

-Those fan in our section were predictably upset at any contact on or off the ball. Sorry folks, some contact is allowed.

-MU struggled with the zone again.  Not sure why any capable team wouldn't zone us until we prove we can bust it or hit the 3 consistently.

-Not sure if it was shown on tv or if anyone else in the house saw it, but Buzz and Vander had a pretty serious exchange going into the under 4 timeout. Looked like Vander was out of place on offense and Buzz was voicing his displeasure.

-I heard a pretty good "we are Marquette" cheer in the 1st half. Awesome.

-And as we all saw, another close game in which MU couldn't close. Overall well-played game and well worth the road trip.

For anyone that came to the game last night, I hope you enjoyed the visit to Nashville and Memorial Gym (aside from the final score of course).  It truly is a unique gym, and one which VU fans obviously love dearly.  Just a couple of comments based on some of the posts:

- I was impressed with the number of MU fans last night.  Saw quite a few more than I expected, and more fans from the other team than we will get for some SEC teams.  I suspect there was an alumni gathering of some sort

- Although the old gym was nearly full last night, unfortunately you didn't really get a "home crowd" experience due to the students being on break.  For those that haven't been before, nearly the whole sideline (opposite the side the benches are closest to) is student seating.  During break, those seats are sold to anyone.  There were actually a large contingent of MU fans about midway up that section; that would usually be students.  When the students are there, they stand and make noise the entire game.  In addition, the band sits on that side (no band last night).  So the place was not nearly as loud as it would normally be.  It is unfortunate the game was played during break - it deserved a full / typicaly home crowd.

- I was impressed with MU; certainly wish you all well going forward.  I wish our best shooter (Jenkins) had a typical night; that way the score wouln't have been so close!

Thanks for stopping by, and the notes.  On the number of fans, I've noticed (as I'm an out of area alum) that Marquette fans travel well especially given the relatively small size of the school and alumni base.  The only limiting factor to that is when alums just can't get tickets (ala @Louisville, @Pittsburgh).  I suspect the fact that this game was during break allowed more MU fans to get tickets, but otherwise I don't think an alumni event would be required to get a good number of MU fans.

Good luck to your guys - make our one point loss look good - we need the help at this point.
