Even if DJO and Buycks hadn't combined to turn the ball over on our last (real) possession, this game was lost long before then. You simply cannot expect to win when you surrender 12 offensive rebounds in 20 minutes. To me, that stat speaks to a much larger issue with this team, in that it seems to be lacking the heart/grit/guts definitive of Marquette Basketball.
The loss is disappointing, for all of the obvious reasons. The sad truth of it is that the loss was well deserved.
EDIT: thread title
Yup.
Dan Dakich said it best at the end, too. "this is not a case of Wisconsin being bigger or stronger, this is a lack of fundamental box outs on the glass".
He's exactly right.
We trailed 38 minutes and 45 seconds of this game.....and here I thought this game was at home and Wisconsin wasn't that good and Wisconsin was on the way down and we were on the way up.
We have a long way to go, because honestly Wisconsin isn't that good and it shows you where we are.
Wisconsin will be an NCAA team. Bo is a great coach, and Buzz should be disappointed in people today

+1 ... this isn't like the Duke loss where Duke looked unstoppable. UW looks like a mediocre Big Ten team and we are not as good as them.
I don't mind losing to a better team. But we looked lost out there. And our fundamentals....gotta' block out.

Including himself. The intensity that MU has shown the past couple of seasons is not there and the offense game plan, if you can call it that was confusing at best.

Wait, didn't your friend Ners predict a MU win????

THE OFFENSE WAS FINE. Considering the competition, this might have been their best game in the halfcourt.
I would have liked more transition baskets, but it's hard to do that when you're taking the ball out of the basket.
Wisconsin dominated the tempo, and the tempo alone threw this athletic team out of it. We were out rebounded by 6 according to ESPN. It sure looked alot worse than that to me. The lack of three point shooting just makes it so easy for teams to defend us

This just isn't accurate. If they took 21 threes like they did each game in KC, it'd be a different story. They only took 9 of them, and made 4.
UW sent MU to the line 22 times. That's an incredibly high number for them to allow. MU shot 48% from the field. Those two things do not happen if we were "so easy to defend."
You think this game is different if we had gotten more calls, alot of times we just drove it and got no fouls called and missed the shot.
Offense was offensive. Good offense was the Pitt Tennessee game on the othe channel.

BS - we got a ton of calls, and still blew the game. In fact, Bucky fouled us nearly every time down the court when we didn't turn it over or shoot an airball!
I know there were a ton of fouls called on them, but I still thought there were some questionable calls regardless or no calls. I am bias in my view obviously but still. It was 10 fouls to 3 fouls with 7 minutes left and 10 to 10 with 3 or so minutes left. They called 7 fouls on us and 2 or 3 on UW
yeah we don't look like a good team right now. Not a good idea for Buzz to lose to wisconsin too many times in a row. Those buzzisms everyone loves will start to grow old. i'm going to get tired of the 'he's even a better person than he is a player' type hyberboles fast. or we have to be more like 'Us' Just play good ball and shut up. I missed the post-game, he didn't cry did he?

+1 - We got a VERY favorable whistle in this game. The refs kept us in the game. Without their assistance it may not even have been competitive.

Seriously, if you think the refs were bad in this game, there is really no hope for you to think otherwise. I actually think UW had some legit gripes on some of the fouls called on their bigs.
I typically will complain about officiating, but it didn't make much of a difference. The Warriors flat, at best.

Funny you say that because as I was watching some of those fouls I'm thinking "this is almost embarrassing, it's like we huddled up the refs and said, ' hey listen, Bucky gets ALL the call at the Kohl Center, could you work out something like that for us?"
The game went almost exactly as I feared it would. UW built a 10 point lead on offensive rebounds and pretty much coasted. As others have said the refs kept us in the game. I thought our offense last year was one dimensional and now I'd love to have that 1-D back. We don't spread the floor. We've got only 3 guys that are even a threat to shoot the 3 and our best of those is on an extended cold streak.
Its starting to settle in that this will likely be the rebuilding year that last year was supposed to be. And I'm starting to think we may have to spend that last scholarship on a 3 point shooter even if we give up some perimeter D.

No we better spend the last scholarship on a PG, because it is a Guard's game.
