In the Illinois vs. Oakland game last night, a women's ball was used for the first 7 minutes. Illinois players complained about the ball to coach Bruce Weber to told them to shut up.
Not sure how the officials wouldn't notice that, especially with the players telling them something was up.
I won't pretend to have spotted it from where I was sitting, but several people around us at the game commented that something seemed off. Several shots didn't hit the rim. Both Oakland and UI players looked to be throwing the ball instead of putting any arc on it. And for it to take until almost the 2nd media timeout...don't the officials usually check the ball before the game?
Oh well, it provided a little entertainment for an otherwise boring game.
