Title: fulce
Post by: Lighthouse 84 on December 07, 2010, 09:29:27 PM
Joe is done for the year judging from that play.  I hope not but it didn't look good.

Wishing Joe the best.  Heal, more to life than BB.

Looked to me like they just knocked knees.  very painful on it's own, i can only imagine what it feels like after having fluid drained from it.  i hope he's okay.  right now, he looks like the only player on this team that brings energy whenever he's on the court.

Looked pretty bad. He wasnt moving once on the floor. You could also hear him yelling in pain. Tough break for a good player.

Really hope he's not done for the year, but it certainly did not look good. Feel very bad for him because of how hard he has worked to come back and the energy he brings off the bench and to the team.

Hopefully just turns out to be a bad bone bruise.

I feel AWFUL for Joe.  That replay was tough to watch (pretty sure you can hear his knee crack).  In a relatively quiet and empty gym, you can hear the pain in his voice.

He has fought through soooooo much.  Get better Joe.

Love and faith.

Really sad to see.... I might get bashed for this, but if this was a season ending injury  I think I feel worse about this than the Dominic James injury.  Yea this does not hurt us the same way James injury did, but Fulce is the type of person you just cant help but root for.  Hard worker, high energy and does anything to help the team out no matter what without complaint. Tough to see

no way - that looked more than just banging knees -- and Joe knew it.  I felt sick for him hearing him yell on the floor.  He knew his career was over.   Sucks.

Would he be eligible for a medical redshirt?  Not saying that he's out for the year or anything...just want to know.

His knee has been drained and injected several times this year already so his knee was already inflamed before this injury. Sounded and looked awful but his pain level may be increased due to repetitive injuries. I wouldn't write off the rest of this season quite yet.

Let the guy graduate and move on with his life.  He's been through enough pain.  Give Erik Williams, Davante Gardner and Jamil Jones the minutes and experience.

No doubt it was extremely painful, but I did not see any twist or buckle.  And, I'm not a doctor, but I've had 4 knee surgeries.

I think we'll see him back sooner than later.  Joe is tough as nails.  Get well, Joe.

Granted I was watching a crappy internet feed on a laptop monitor, but there sure seemed to be a pretty severe twist to me.  It looked to me like he had pretty well gone down to the floor, but one foot was still planted causing his knee to twist at a pretty rough angle.  But I just saw it one time and didn't see a replay.  I may not have seen it too well.

I was at the game and when the trainer ran over to him and was touching his leg, I could clearly hear Joe yell "Don't touch it!" and scream in pain.... I said to the rest of the people that I was with that his season is most definitely over.

I could hear that watching on ESPN3 on my computer - and the screaming while he was on the floor before the trainer got to him

I heard the don't touch it loud and clear.  I think he is done. I have never heard the BC quite that quiet

I might have looked away, but I didn't see the trainer performing the standard stability tests.  Of course, Joe had just finished screaming don't touch it.

I may be overly optimistic, but I hope not

We need you, Joe.  Get well.

Yeah it definitely is not good... especially when you have already had previous injuries with a certain body part... it's harder to heal quickly and come back as strong as you were before.  I just really feel like his season is done at this point.

My first thought as well. And yes, I think he would be....and we have an open scholarship....Buzz will have options

But that's way in the future right now. Just hope for a fast recovery....

I could hear his knee from my seats, and I'm in row M in the upper bowl. My guess at the time was that was the end of his career, though they never showed a replay inside the building. I agree with chren, it definitely sounded like Buzz was tearing up a bit in the post-game interview.

As far as the future...who knows? I'd guess Joe is eligible for a medical redshirt, tonight marked his fifth game. Otule got one last year and played three games. However, if he's graduating, will he want to stay on campus just to play another season at Marquette? If he did want to come back, I think most everyone would be happy to see that last schollie go to him, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a simple decision as a graduating senior.

Wasn't there, but the injury looked terrible on TV.  Knee looked like it buckled at about a 65 degree angle.  Considering the myriad of surgeries already done and the lack of ligaments/cartilage left in there, I think recovery from this would be extremely difficult.

Just awful to see, especially with Joe being Buzz's first recruit and the de facto face of the program on campus (at least amongst the students).  The guy genuinely loves, LOVES being part of the Marquette community, and you can see it every day with how he interacts with his teammates and other students (even if the Spanish O'Donnells videos may suck).

In terms of on-court, I think this is a very bad injury, especially with our struggles rebounding.  Joe just brings a different aspect/energy to the game, and is very efficient on the offensive end.  His length makes a huge difference on the glass.  Not sure if EWill or Jamail can fill that void, but we're gonna have to turn them loose, and hope that our other posts guys can step it up as well.

Based on some things... I think he is done.

Such a great kid.  He'll help the team from the bench if nothing else.

Buzz broke down on the postgame. Said the team had already left for the hospital and that he was going there right after the show. Didn't look good in person, didn't sound good on the postgame.

Sounds terrible from the accounts here.  Hoping the best for the young man...I'm sure this is especially painful to Buzz due to their long relationship.

I was taking pictures right on the baseline, I don't know if it was season ending but poor Joe was in the most pain I have ever experienced someone be in first hand. The worst part was having the whole stadium silent and hearing him struggle. Such a good guy too. Here's hoping for the best.

Such a great kid.  I'm crushed for him, as I think the entire MU community is.  Chin up.  Hope Joe can finish his career at MU on the floor.  If not, then on a stage getting his diploma.

The two quietest moments at the BC I've seen in one game - the other was the moment of silence for Hank.

From my vantage point, it looked like his knee just completely gave out. The BC was eerily quiet and listening to him scream was hard to swallow (my wife's eyes actually welled up). The fans are aware of how much Joe had gone through in the past few seasons just to get back onto the court. You could also tell how much his teammates care about him considering how many of them went over just to give him a pat on the head as he was leaving the court. I really feel for him and wish him the best in his recovery.

Get well Joe!  God speed on the recovery.  Let's just hope Joe can live a normal life and be able to get around well once he recovers..and that he is not permanently debilitated from all of the trauma to his knees.  Great kid.  Perhaps Buzz will keep him in the program as an assistant of some variety.

+1

The air was definitely sucked out of the BC as soon as this happened and lasted for a few minutes even after play resumed.

I dont think I have ever felt for a guy more than I did for Joe last night. With all the injuries he as struggled with and overcame, for this to happen his senior year... it just sucks. Joe is a great guy and deserves a better senior season then what he is going to get now. I wish him nothing but the best for his basketball career and, more importantly, his life outside of the gym. Hopefully, should he decide to, he could make it back onto the court sometime this year.

He seemed to be in good spirits.

Hmmmmmmm........
So we shouldn't believe hearing his screaming on the floor? Or that his knee is shot? Or that it just got bumped?
Poor kid, I really hope this tweet is possibly good news but wow he was hurting. My kid had her eyes covered, couldn't watch.
MU-dom is crossing fingers and praying for you, Joe!

Or that his knee is shot?

For the record, I beleive the context of Buzz's quote that his knee was shot was referring to the status of his knee *before* the collision.  So is it "more shot" now?  We don't know yet.

On whether Joe Fulce's injury occurred when he appeared to bang knees with an opposing player: "No. He's got a shot knee; it's been shot. I would say it's completely shot. That's all I know."

I'm certainly hoping you're right, Rocky. He was in a lot of pain last night but if that tweet is real, maybe there's a tiny glimmer of hope for Joe.
