This guy commits to the College of Charleston over Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia Tech??
Am I missing something?
Oh, I should have kept reading...
"Charleston's recruiting class is shaping up nicely. Cremins signed Trevonte Dixon (Arden, N.C./Christ School), Anthony Stitt (Charlotte, N.C./Butler) and Pat Branin (Richmond, Va./Steward School). Branin has a connection to Baru because Branin's father, Tim, is Baru's legal guardian. The pair played two seasons of high school and a year of AAU ball together."
Interesting that this guy would pass on bigger name schools and more spotlight to play with a friend.
6-9, 225lb. big man who block shots and rebounds. Where can we get one of those?

Its nice that you think of it that way...
Many believe the guardian used Baru to get his own kid a scholarship.
It's obviously not as big of a program as those others, but the CoC campus is in a really nice setting. You could make a pretty strong argument that you'd rather spend 4 years at CoC instead of Blacksburg, VA or College Park, MD. UNC on the other hand... that would be a tough offer to turn down.
Charleston is a pretty nice town and with a 7 to 1 girl to guy ratio it doesn't hurt either.
OTULE AND GARDNER WILL SHAPE UP FOR US NICELY OVER THE NEXT 2.5 AND 3.5 YEARS.
Quiet about his decision - how refreshing that is to hear...

There are a few coaches out there that would disagree with you.
I'm referrring to the TV/press conferences/hats that make these announcements a circus.

And I am referring to how "refreshing" this situation appears to be. It is definitely squirm-worthy...
Their coach Bobby Cremins had a rep at Georgia Tech as a great recruiter (anyone who remembers their final 4 run as leathel weapon 3). People felt he wasn't consistant and couldn't win the big game.

Very true, he also had a reputation for not following the rules either. Coach K has a few fun stories he has shared on him over the years.
Pat Branin (the kid) only had interest from 2 different D3 schools, according to Evan Daniels.
The family is essentially getting $136,876 in benefits...cost for an out of state resident to attend College of Charleston for 4 years. Not to mention the other benefits that come with being on athletic scholarship.

For those who insist that the size of the bribe equates with its level of squirminess, that's not much more than IU's new videographer will make over the next four years.

**Wind, wind, wind**
Dave Telep retweeted an ACCSports tweet that said "Baru going to CofC over Maryland, UNC reminds me of when Adonal Foyle chose Colgate over Duke."
Nice comparison...if that stays true, Baru's gonna be an NBAer.
This kid may actually be an idiot for all we know...
By getting Baru to sign, his guardian managed to get his own D3 (at best) son a schollie to C of c in a packager deal...
Word now out is that they told no one....even his AAU coach, that he had signed the LOI to C of C nor had he told any of the other schools that he had signed....as late as Saturday Telep was reporting that Baru said he had not signed anywhere and had no plans to do so anytime soon....
Lots of stink on this one.....from the guardian's self interest to Cremins.....
Feel bad for the kid....

What's a videographer at IU? Is that like the Video Coordinator?
Do "videographers" sign 4 year contracts now?
I wonder why IU's last "videographer" didn't get a 4 year contract...what was his name...oh, MU grad Brian Barone.

I stand corrected. The bribe from the Indiana program went to the new video coordinator, not the new videographer. That changes everything. LOL

Is the teal color function broken on your screen? It appears to be.

And now two years on, Adjehi Baru, as a sophomore is averaging 9.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks a game and shooting 51% while playing 34 minutes a game. Cremins has kept up his part of the deal as
Pat Branin is averaging under 2 minutes, playing in 5 of 12 games, but is still on the team.

Maybe because those board is always citing secret sources. He wanted to keep his recruiting quiet.
