Rutgers defeated Marquette 63-55. They also beat MU earlier this year. They will face UCONN, who beat Louisville 76-50.
since when does this blog care about womens basketball???
My sincere apologies, warrior55. Let me know when you're next going to be around campus, I have 7 seconds that I need to give you back.
lol...Too bad they couldn't pull close in the end, great game by Ellis though and it'll be nice being able to watch them in the tourny.
For one, this is a message board, not a blog.
2, if you don't care then don't read the message.
It's pretty simple.
The MU Women have had a great year so far. I've enjoyed following them this year. Hopefully they can make some noise in the NCAA tourney.
Congrats to the girls. Tough loss...time to regroup for the tourney, and what should be a decent seed.
A successful girls program can only help the men's program. Increased exposure, publicity for Marquette, etc.
Interesting to look at the teams that have both their men's and women's teams ranked.
AP men's / women's = avg.
Texas A&M 7 / 13 = 10
UNC 8 / 3 = 5.5
Louisville 12 / 23 = 17.5
Maryland 17 / 7 = 12
Marquette 18 / 21 = 19.5
Duke 21 / 1 = 11
Tenn. 22 / 4 = 13
It shows just how far our athletic dept. has come in general to be listed in that kind of company.
(btw, 'Ville ranked 12? really?)
Women's have a MONSTER class coming in.

You forgot Ohio State...which would have the highest average of all of them. Not to mention a recent cover of SI, discussing the success of the Ohio State program. Damn buckeyes.
Oops didn't see OSU there.
OSU 1 / 5 = 3
We have a new winner.
good thing the Dook women are #1 to boost the school's average.....

Newbie here; love the women almost as much as the boys. Can you elaborate at all on the class or provide me a link to take a look myself. That's something we never hear anything about unfortunately.

Ohio St puts more money into their athletics than any other school.... by a lot too I think...
still think the school for the last couple years is Florida... winning football and basketball, yes there are plenty of other sports, but those are the two biggest, not to mention there baseball is a perennial top 10 team.

I don't have any idea on their names but we have the first ever top 100 player for the womens team coming in, a point guard from Minnesota ranked somewhere around 50? The top 3 point shooter in HS history coming in from Illinois, and I think a big from Illinois whose brother the men's team might be looking at in a couple of years.
Maybe someone else can fill in some more of the details?
There is good info on next year's draft on the scout site.

Here is a recent thread that summarizes the class.

Thanks for the info and links you both.
