Title: Wes Mat Starting for Portland
Post by: MUCrew on November 30, 2010, 11:19:29 AM
Replaces Batum as the starter.  Most Blazer fans are all for the change.  Those that oppose it are pretty delirious about Batum and his upside.

Wes is on fire right now....  ESPN.   vs. the Mavericks.  Had 13 in the 3rd quarter (I think).  10 at the minimum anyway in the 3rd..

What happened with him almost getting suspended the other night for leaving the bench?

Is Wes is the best SG on the blazers?

I know some Blazer fans back on the left coast.

They love Wes. And that really says something considering they hated the signing due to the ludicrous amount they paid him.

He went into Portland with a target on his back from the fanbase and now the entire city loves him. really great to see a great kid in a great position like that.

I think Hubie Brown said something along the lines of "Where would the Blazers be without Wesley Matthews, not only for this game, but the entire season!"

Brandon Roy.....

Brandon Roy.....

Wes is playing a lot better than roy at the moment. Look at the numbers Wes has put up since he became a starter. Roy has been hurt and still may not be 100%, but Wes is the the best SG on the Blazers right now

Roy is no where near 100%.  His knees aren't much better than Fulce's.

Yep, I watched some of the game last night and Roy looked terrible.  Aldridge is a pretty solid player (though it sounds like the 4th quarter he had was an aberration this season).  Probably didn't help that the Blazers were getting absolutely nothing in terms of calls - the commentators outright said as much on at least 3 different drives.

Dirk takes (and makes) some absolute circus shots.

I thought leaving the bench during a fight was an automatic suspension, but I didn't see what happened.

There was a scuffle on the court.
Wes was accused of leaving the bench (automatic suspension.)
Wes claims he did not leave the bench.
Film confirmed Wes indeed stayed on bench and away from fight.
No suspension.
Wes back to being the man.

I am in Portland frequently on business and take the light rail to Blazers games.
Wes is the man in town right now. He makes the timely, game changing shots and plays hard core defense. He could run for Mayor

"Mayor! Now that's an idea!  I'll run for mayor!"

I went to the one and only Bucks v Portland game in mke myself & went gaga over Wes... well that'll happen no matter his performance, but still.   Hopefully blazers will play more games @ bucks next year??

how does the Oregon light rail system suit you?

Light rail is a joke...take it from a MN resident. A colossal waste of money. Can someone tell me how a 11 mile choo-choo train costs a billion dollars?
