Pomeroy number is 34th (that's because he factors in scoring margin, RPI doesn't care if you lose by 1 or 300pts)
http://kenpom.com/rate.php
Obviously it's November so these things will change drastically. Sure would have been nice to get a signature win the past two days, however.
Interesting. Hard to get a high RPI with 2 losses this early I suppose. These two games should ultimatel help I would guess in strength of schedule.

I can't believe you're coming on here talking RPI in November. What a farce. It's not just that these rankings will "change dramatically" - It's that right now they are totally worthless and meaningless. So why bring it up? Guess you couldn't resist typing "Marquette rated 213th" no matter how absurd the context.
And as for "signature wins", according to your precious RPI we haven't yet had that opportunity - Duke is #23 and Gonzaga is #121. If only Drexel (#3), Akron (#6), Iowa State (#7), San Jose St. (#9), Vermont (#10), etc, etc, were on our schedule we could get a real "signature win" and move up the ladder. What utter nonsense.

I get what you're saying, but the sad fact is that many of us
can believe and almost
expect for Chicos to pull this type of nonsense. He/she is consistent with the ridiculousness if nothing else.
Chicos, should we sing the praises of Appalachian State?... they are #12... even after having last night's scheduled game vs. Liam M.'s team canceled because they forgot to supply officials...

It's really funny to read you two.
I post two rankings...one good and one bad. I clearly say it's early and they will change drastically. Etc, etc. It was a FYI post to show the vast disparity between the two rankings and I even called out why the differences. Nothing more.
You guys are funny and sad in so many ways.
Have A Happy Thanksgiving
PS. Jay Bee. I'm very much a male so you can stop with the he/she. Happy to clear it up for you so you can work on another personal angle attack for your next post.

Oooh, so the title starts, "It's very early, but our RPI is 213th." and the post was meant to show the vast disparity between two rankings? Come on, guy/girl. You backtrack a lot. If there is vast disparity, and the rankings will 'change drastically' and 'don't mean much', then why in the world would you even start a post about it? Easy to see right through it.

Referring to you as he/she isn't a personal attack, my friend. A personal attack is calling someone 'very sick' or 'sad', like you continue to say to me. You may say that you are a male, but you say a lot of things I don't believe.
Something more relevant might be thoughts on where MU might wind up in the RPI this season (when it is not meaningless) and what type of RPI would people feel comfortable with from a NCAA tourney bid perspective this season (especially with the expanded field).
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and good luck with your shopping early Friday morning.

"One good and one bad?". No. One somewhat reflective of reality and one pure, total, unadulterated bullshyte? Now we're talkin' turkey. But of course you knew that when you posted it. That number (213) was just too tempting a "fact" (misleading though it is) to pass up. Back to your old passive aggressive tricks, and all the sighing or LOLing in the world can't change that.
End of rant. Happy and safe Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Lenny...seriously. Give it a rest. Anyone else posts it and it's no big deal.

Sultan... seriously. You're wrong. Nobody posts this stuff the way Chicos does. This is the umpteenth time you've "interceded" in a back and forth between Chicos and me. Not coincidently, it's also the umpteenth time you've instructed me to give it a rest while you defend him.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and I for one won't ever tell you to basically be quiet (as you're telling me). If you can't see through the bs so be it, but please don't talk down to me because I (and countless others) can.
Chicos can't stand Marquette. She has criticized Buzz since he got here. Marquette is young and has a promising future. Gardner is the real deal. Chicos and her kind should (yes he/she is female, she was in my theology class) go to the Indiana baord and leve us alone.
I appreciated the post. Would never have learned the info otherwise. I agree with the Sultan.
Maybe we should do a poll.

Your responses are childish and aren't based in anything but "LOOK AT CHICOS!!!! He's badmouthing Marquette again!!!"
Who cares? Everyone knows what Chicos general thoughts are and take them with a grain of salt.

What did you learn? Chicos gives THE reason for the difference between RPI and Pomeroy as, "that's because he factors in scoring margin, RPI doesn't care if you lose by 1 or 300pts", which is ridiculous. There are many reasons for the difference. Of course when you really go through the many reasons for the difference, the fact that the 213 is a stupid and meaningless number becomes highlighted and you lose the desired 'sting' of yet another 'MU sucks, ha ha!' post.

How many usernames are you now concurrently? Is it 3 or 4 now.
I love Marquette.
You still haven't paid off your bet
Which theology class was it?
Happy Thanksgiving
JayBee...there are other differences in theratings, but an essential one is scoring margin, especially early on when there is a small body of work. Feel free to talk to Jerry Palm who runs Collegrpi. Happy to pass on his phone number and email if you would like.
God Bless Jay...enjoy your Turkey Day
May you obsession ( and Lenny's ) continue through the year. For LC, with as many different usernames he's got going over the years, well it's the same old same old
LC, should I take off my Marquette sweatshirt I have on now at the bar? You know, since I hate MU and all?
Yes, I would like Jerry's phone number, thanks.
PS - I think it's cool that you are posting on MUscoop while at the bar. Who is obsessed?!?!
Happy Thanksgiving ya'll.
