Title: Knight as a commentator
Post by: romey on November 23, 2010, 09:09:39 PM
I'll tell you what - it is SO much more pleasing to the ear to listen to bobby Knight vs. Dookie V.
Honestly, his insights and "chatter" about Claire bee, Ted Williams, Hank Iba, etc. really do add something to the game vs. Dookie just incessantly heaping (false) praise on everyone.

Sacre - making himself small

Butler - needs to get it on the high post and have the play run through him

Attack the seams on the zone.  The zone defends the pass

great stuff

He is fantastic. Honest, clear, concise commentary.

Looks like he's been golfing.  See the tan nose?

I *loved* his "that was a stupid comment" suggestion when the co-announcer said that Kyle Singler might be the best player in college hoops. He might be (I don't know), but I thought it was ironic that as he was being crowned, the graphic showed Singler with worse stats than Pullen.

Fantastic interview with the General on Mike and Mike just now.  He thinks the ND win at PITT was the best win of any team this season.  And to think how good of a chance we had to sweep them....

He is definitely the best analyst in the business.

He just is not politically correct, although he seems subdued nowadays. And afterall. being PC is what it is all about.

Bobby K is both a hunter and a fisherman - outdoorsman type (you), as opposed to couch potato type (me)

I'd say Jay Bilas knows what hes talking about.

As an overall commentator and analyst of the college basketball landscape, I agree Bilas is better.  But in terms of actually breaking down a game as the color guy, I think Knight is better.

He has good things to say but is not very prepared for what he calls. He is good, but nowhere near great.
