Title: DJO's dunk
Post by: Doris Burkes Thong on November 17, 2010, 11:16:42 PM
Was definately the highlight of the night. We are going to need a highlight clip - paging our man TallTitan. Now, just imagine if DJO can throw one down like that in Gasser's face. We'll all wet our pants.

Didn't get to watch the game, looking for the dunk now on the online replay. Can someone give me an approximate time? Thanks.

I wonder if the crew at MU TV - Brad Galli - tip off ESPN to this play?  Pretty sure that was Neil Everett on the call (who Galli got to participate/feature on Inside MU Basketball show)..and during the clip..announcer says, "Our friends at Marquette."

Just a thought....but sick dunk by DJO...and especially when considering he's a lefty..and dunked that with his right.  The degree of difficulty to jump off your "weak leg" which is the leg opposite your dominant hand - meaning if you are right handed..you jump a lot better off of your left leg.  DJO being left handed..not only dunked the ball with his right..but had to jump off his left leg.  That's unreal athleticism.

I know a lefty who could only dunk jumping off his left foot. Can be weird like that bor maybe lefties are just wierd

I'm right handed, and could easily dunk going off my left..easily...but I couldn't come close when I'd try to jump off my right and dunk with my left - it made me feel unbelieveably uncoordinated. Maybe lefties have a gift righties don't?

As I think about it..I can't even recall a time DWade goes off his right foot and dunks with his left..

I think I remember reading/hearing somewhere (most likely here) that DJO drives with his right, shoots with his left...and his put-back dunk against Louisville was with his right hand (but he jumped off with both feet).

BTW, I think it's hilarious that I have to search "Buzz Williams dance" to get a clip of that dunk.  Oldie but a goodie.

I noticed in a video of DJO one time that he signed an autograph with his right hand. It could be that he's pretty ambidextrous, although it's odd to see somebody write righty and play sports lefty. Usually it's the other way around.

I think it was Mike Broeker actually, he tweeted that he placed a call out to Bristol.  Considering his connections there from his NBA days, I'm sure that helped out.

John Buccigross: "Darius Johnson-Odom, you can dunk. Well." That's an understatement.
