Gardner was the game changer. He did more for MU than any big in the last 7 years

THERE'S AN OX is pullin the Warrior Wagon!
As his fitness improves the more we'll see him in the flow of the entire game. Right now he may not be able to keep that level of play for a full 2 halves.
Love this class and a great comeback fellas!
Buzz will continue to rotate lineups and DG will get 15-20 a game tops. Conditioning won't allow more until next year. Enough of an inside presence, Willie?
Big d was amazing today but credit has to be given to vander. Byron Johnson had 15 points all from 3 then vander covered him. He scored 3 points in the second half. Vander's amazon d deserves some credit

No not willie... didn't think my comment was all that negative just observant... I'm sure his second half mins were at least twice the first indicating too many mins early could deter his effectiveness in the second half... two games in a row this way indicates the beginning of a trend?
I knew Bucknell was in trouble by being up only 8 with 70% shooting. It was only a matter of time, before the OX warmed up....
noble, I agree with your post. Willie is always decrying the lack of an inside presence, with some justification. For 15-18 minutes a game, we will have one.
Gardner has that moses malone attitude. we have a winner

Pretty sure Blue opened the game on him...but when Johnson hit 3, threes on Blue, the moved DJO over to him...in the first half..
But..much better 2nd half..and no kid or team is going to shoot 70% from the 3 point line for an entire game...(though we might have gotten close a few times last year!)
Gardner is sweet. Great hands! Is he the next R Jack?
Gardner played super but my player of the game was Junior as while he was in the game the offense was under control and Dwight scored like he does. Junior did not clog up the middle and set the temple.

He already appears TO BE Robert Jackson! Gotta do it over a season..but..he was in at crunch time tonight..and is the reason we won the game...and Bucknell is a decent team..not a bunch of stiffs.
When was the last time we even let a big on the floor late in a close game, much less relied on him to get us the W?
I just wonder how many minutes per game he can go and still be effective... should improve with time... let's bring him along nice and slow.
MU has not had a big man who can score and has soft hands like gardner since robert jackson, great find by buzz. Gardner's play today changed the game, he is my stud of the game for sure.

Amen Bro, yet I can't blame my Scoop kin for failing to acknowledge the importance of the big men. After all, Crean completely soiled his trousers on that one after 2003. Perhaps too busy self-promoting and lobbying. As Buzz says, you can't win championships without big men. Bottom line, that's what we're here for.
'2nd half inspiration'
Love that stat

;) Though it shouldn't be lost that Jae got a double double today.
He and Chris don't have to win every game. They aren't there yet. They just have to keep us from getting gashed inside every game. So far, so good. Just get 1% better every day, boys.
DG's stat line. 11 points and 7 rebounds in 12 minutes. Efficient.
The Ox got a standing O when he was taken out....and then Buzz put him back in 30 seconds later ;D
guess he is not the "the project" so many of you declared him to be...

I'll take 20 minutes minimum. Let him develop. I only see upside--or is it backside?
I would not have predicted that the Ox would show up on the SoG board this year.

He should have been SoG on Friday, as well !!!! 8-)
My Season SoG Tally is:
OX - 2
Everyone else - 0
This game is going to pay dividends at some point this season, showing these guys they can still win when from all appearances 'it's just not their day'.
Having ox as sotg has to help recruiting.

Going by mere recruiting rankings and the Pro Am, I'm pretty sure none of us thought he could do anything close to this for at least a couple years. He's got 28 points though 2 games...I'd bet most of us thought he wouldn't put up that many all year. What a great surprise.
Not surprisingly (well it's surprising Gardner did it but not surprising no one has done it in awhile since our big guys have been pretty horrid), Ox is the first big man to put up at least 10 points in each of his first 2 games of the season since RJAX put up 15 against Nova and 13 against Coppin State to start the 02-03 season.
