Man. What's going through DJO's mind at this point
its the preseason?
essentially.

You mean pre-big east season? Not quite sure what that has to do with not starting him...

What I mean is that Buzz probably wants to see what he has in terms of depth and what the young guys can do.
DJO is a known quantity.

That's what practice is for
This is BS and most of you know it, even if you won't admit it.
Don't you think that Buzz likely had a conversation with DJO about this? I really doubt that DJO is racking his brain over why he isn't starting the second game of the year against Bucknell.
The starters are not the 5 best. Plain and simple.

I have never ever heard of anything like this. It's early, it's preseason, etc. These games count on our tourney resume. You start your best five. Period.
Start your best five? Not necessarily. You play your best five the most minutes.

You've "never heard" of starting the guys who are performing best in practice? Really?

Do you think Willie Warrior will be the head coach? Or will it be chren21? With as reasonable as each of these two is, I have no doubt our recruiting would go through the ceiling.
Free throws are a problem and Bucknell is getting every rebound.
I guess we disagree then. I would think you start your best players and if someone plays great in practice his minutes go up but he dosent star just for the sake of starting. At least that is how I have always seen it done.
Kurt Rambis and Mark Iavaroni were the best PF's on their respective teams? Sometimes you go for a balance on both your first and second teams. Don't worry who starts. Worry who finishes.
need to guard the 3's, quit turning the ball over and make FT's. Do that and we win. If we don't we lose.
I'm a bit more worried that we're getting out-hustled, out-played, and out-shot at home by a very inferior opponent.

Yeah, who ever works hardest in practice...blah blah blah. Might as well start the walk on then.
Start DJO for fecks sake. Annoying.
So does Junior just suck??? I don't think he has played a minute yet. And do they preach that every drive should end in a reverse layup? Seems like a lot of unnecessary reverses.

I try not to crap on players, they're kids. That being said.......Canadian Dimes will be changing his name very soon because the staff doesn't think he's shown what it takes at the point (and I heard those exact words last week when I was in Milwaukee).

Thanks. Didn't want to get into a big argument but starting ewill playing him 2 mins then never putting him in again makes no sense
Vander on 12 and never leave him

Who are you kidding? You'd crap on anyone and everyone to make Canadian Dimes look bad. To be fair, he'd do the same for you.
My "inside sources" with the MU coaching staff can't compare with yours, but I did hear some guy named Buzz giving huge props to Cadougan after the game today. Might be a little premature on your part to report the staff doesn't think he has the right stuff.
Erik Williams started yesterday and played for a grand total of 3 minutes....DJO got 21 minutes. The most minutes Butler, Blue, Buycks, Crowder, DJO...Starter's minutes for DJO
It really doesnt matter who starts the game, its who finishes. Ewill played 3 min and he started. The best players were on the floor when the game was on the line, thats all that matters to me. I think Buzz is trying to send a message to DJO that he needs to work harder in practice. DJO will be starting by the start of the big east seaso, thats a fact.
I always took a few minutes to get into the flow of the game when coming off of the bench. When you start you have warmed up and have a sweat going. When you do not start you have to sit on the bench idle until your number is called. I think that by starting your chances of "getting in the groove" of the game or "getting in a zone" go way up. I cannot agrue with the point that whoever gets the most minutes and whoever finishes the game is very important but I also think that by starting your chances of getting into the feel of the game go way up and it can happen much earlier in the game than by coming off the bench.
What's up with Jamail Jones? No time against Bucknell and very little against Prairie View. I don't think we need another EWill type freshman. Last year we were for Michael Snaer - had like 3 baskets in 2 games. Stunning. WE ARE MARQUETTE!

I think it's great that we have a deep enough team that we don't have to worry about getting production from Jones if he's not quite ready for prime-time yet. It takes some guys a little longer to complete the transition to D1 than it does other guys. I wouldn't worry about it.

I think like EWill, he has some defensive concerns (most freshman do, Vander is an exception). He definitely has some skills but there are a lot of people in front of him. It's been mentioned that he would be a star player on past MU teams with much less depth. Him not playing doesn't mean he's doing badly, it means other players are just doing better. Last year we definitely could have used EWill in there if he had been ready. This year and at his position, I think we have enough depth without Mellow. Knock on wood, but if foul trouble or an injury comes into play I'd like to think we could go to Jamail without a ton of dropoff.

He may not get head coach tomorrow but he could probably land a grad assist role. CHREN21 is one of the very few on this board who has played Division 1 basketball. He sort of knows what he's talking about.

Well, you've certainly piqued my curiosity.
