Warriors slay the Panthers

Marquette kicked off the season in style tonight pounding Prairie View A&M 97 - 58 (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/ncaa/men/gameflash/2010/11/12/63255_boxscore.html). Buzz Williams used his entire roster tonight, throwing waves of athletic talent at the over-matched Panthers.
Jimmy F. Bultler led Marquette with 18 points and six rebounds. The story of the game was freshman Davante Gardner who finished with 17 points (that is not a misprint) in his first collegiate outing. "Visions of Damon Key" said Dennis Krause on the broadcast tonight as the big fella was a perfect 7-7 from the field in 13 minutes of action. Damon Key? Sure, why not. Gardner looked good even though many of his points came in garbage time.
When was the game decided? As Tweeter mpsever (http://twitter.com/#%21/mpsever) noted, "For those who weren't keeping track, PVAMU had a 3-2 lead before #mubb went on a 37-10 run (http://twitter.com/#%21/mpsever/status/3296620397461504)." There you have it.
Next up for MU are the Bucknell Bison who fell at Villanova 68-52 (http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=303160222). Marquette hosts the Bison at 1pm CT on Sunday afternoon. Bucknell is good folks (http://twitter.com/#%21/CrackedSidewlks/status/3293350966853632).
Box Score (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=303160269).

The kid has "fly-paper hands"! Moves to the hoop at the right time, catches every dish without a bobble and then makes the shot. ;D
