Happy Basketball Christmas

Finally the season opener, the best day of the year for fans of Warrior Nation when the gift of basketball is finally opened after months of anticipation.
The 2010-2011 vintage of Marquette basketball kicks off tonight against Prairie View A&M (http://sports.pvamu.edu/pages/4407.asp) at the Bradley Center. As Pudner described earlier in the week the Panthers surprised a few folks last season and offer a different set of challenges for MU (http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2010/11/opener-panthers-forced-17-turnovers.html).
Todd Warner and the team at MUTV Sports (http://mutvsports.com/) preview tonight's action in this solid report.

Heading into the game MU could be short-handed. Senior guard Dwight Buycks is hobbled by injury (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/107298048.html) and if he is unable to play perhaps Junior Cadougan will have a chance to prove his worth after his disappointing performance in last week's exhibition.
Also, Todd Rosiak cranked out a terrific profile of MU star Jimmy F. Butler earlier this week (http://www.jsonline.com/sports/goldeneagles/107124358.html). Rosiak covers new ground with the MU senior including the revelation about how close he came to signing with Kentucky over MU.
Here's more from Butler on his role as a leader this season.

Tipoff for tonight's game is scheduled for 8pm Marquette Standard Time (http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/111110aab.html). The game will be broadcast locally on Sports32, ESPN3, and the Full Court Package, DirecTV channel 725.

Basketball Christmas is the first day of the NCAA tournament.
Or is it that college basketball is so awesome there are two Christmases?

Basketball Christmas is the first day of the NCAA tournament.
Or is it that college basketball is so awesome there are two Christmases?
no, the first day of the tourney is Basketball Caligula ..... ridiculous excess.
Nobody uses the phrase "Basketball Caligula"!
Also, NCAA tournament = awesome. Christmas = awesome. Caligula = NOT AWESOME.

Caligula = NOT AWESOME.
Are you referring to the Bob Guccione/Penthouse Productions depiction of the reign of Caligula? I recall that movie being very well reviewed by the men of McCormick's 8th Floor.
