Today? Drinking about 20 Budweisers and talking some hoops. Tomorrow and the next day? About the same. Great guy, though.
Don't hate on him.
He may just lift his glasses and zap you with a laser beam.
I'm with Len, drinking, cussing, chasing a little tail.
Heard he strapped himself to a bar stool.

Hate? I loved the guy.

Me too. Just forgot the teal.
The only thing I hated was his lackluster yet entertaining recruiting classes.

"lackluster yet entertaining" is a perfect description
Deane was certainly a character. Not much of a recruiter, but fairly good bench coach given the talent he had a for players.
Wasn't he the one that would call two timesouts within 15 seconds when he did not like what he saw on floor?
Lots of stories have been posted about him in the saloons.

Funny, when I was giving my son the tour of Milwaukee on Sunday (where he was born, where we lived on Prospect, etc) I showed him Deane's pad over there on the lake. He had a sweet setup.

He'd call a timeout after the other team made their first 3pter.
It could be 10 seconds into the game, and Mike would call it.
He's probably a blast to hang with, but I'm glad MU made a change.
Best of luck to Mike.
Deane was a colorful guy but some of the stories regarding his boorish behavior made me cringe. Combine that with his laziness in recruiting, defeatist attitude, and lackadasical management of the program made it imperative to move him on. Say what you will about Crean but one of his very first moves was to improve the image of the Men's Basketball team. I remember he had the guys kitted out in khakis, polos, and blazers on Day One. Unfortunately, we soon learned he was all about image but without the integrity or substance to back it up.
