Title: Bruce Pearl's Termination Letter

So essentially, he is now an at-will employee who can be let go at any time for any reason.  Of course, they will eventually come to a new agreement, but I wonder how much they are tempted to move on.  I know he got them to the final 8 last year, but how much pause the dishonest behavior give them?

Bruce isn't concerned, nor does he have reason to worry about his job. I'm figuring he'll eventually make up any lost income and then some.

Sounds like they've sent him a new contract with a 10% pay cut.  I'd think if they were going to fire him for what they know currently, they'd have done it right away.

That is a brutal story for Pearl and UT.

Well, let's face it.  The fans of many programs would rather have a winning program, and a coach that skirts "minor" rules than a losing program that's squeaky clean.

I could see having recruits to a backyard bbq being determined a minor violation, but not after telling them at the event that you know you're violating the rules, and that they're violating the rules, but it's okay if no one says anything about it... and then actively trying to further the cover-up after the NCAA starts sniffing around.

He shouldn't be concerned. He's been cheating for years and has remain employed. Why would that suddenly change?

ALL programs cheat. It's always a question of how much/how little, how blatant/how discreet.

And it appears he wasn't careful enough and should be punished in my opinion
