Title: Kwamain Mitchell
Post by: non-ripe on October 14, 2010, 12:52:54 PM
From a decent source within SLU bball....PG Kwamain Mitchell to Marquette if things don't work out at SLU.  Mitchell was part of the same sexual assault investigation as Willie Reed, but apparently not to the same extent as Reed.  The whole thing is very circumstantial with few facts.  He said, she said case that prosecutor chose not to pursue.

Just passing on what people in STL are saying.  Take it for what it's worth.

Always heard he's a great kid.  Watched him play in HS a few times; a very poised leader.

According to this article, Mitchell is staying at SLU and will serve out his suspension.

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/article_ac3cea15-8003-56e7-8035-d8ca93d41160.html

"Mitchell's attorney applauded the university's decision Wednesday.

"The administration and the appellate process found that there was no evidence to substantiate that Kwamain should be disciplined for any type of sexual assault," Rogers said. "I anticipate that Kwamain will do everything in his power to satisfy the administration that he is a student worthy of reconsideration when he attempts to re-enroll ... after the first of the year.""

However, Willie Reed insists he did nothing wrong and WILL NOT return to SLU.

Thanks, Sultan.

Mitchell can play. SLU seems to be in a good position to make a leap in the A-10 this year and head back to NCAA. Losing Reed will certainly hurt, but Mitchell is their best player.

With Cadougan, Smith, here now and Singleton becoming eligible next year, Kwamain Mitchell would have been tough to fit in even with his great skills.

I like SLU, and rather than be greedy, I'll be happy for both Mitchell and SLU that this worked out.

I went to high school with Kwamain, so I was shocked to hear about these allegations. He always seemed like a really good guy who kept his head on straight even after starring on a great team that won state when he was a freshman. I have been pleased to see how well he has been doing at SLU.

That being said, I don't know what he adds to our team. He is smaller than anyone on our roster, and plays more like a 2 than a 1. I can't imagine him at MU, unless it was as a walk-on. I wish him continued success at SLU and that this all blows over for him.

Mitchell really does not fit MU's style.  Guy needs to have the ball in his hands.  Otherwise has a very herky-jerky style of play.  I would take a pass.

What does this even mean?

And do we really know our style yet? Buzz was playing with limited parts and leftovers his two seasons. Seems to me we need a couple seasons with all his own crew to know what Buzz's style really is other then "winning" and "taking the best shot".

Buzz-ball also includes such staples as:

Don't make stupid fouls even in the name of aggresiveness, which results in:

MAKE more free throws than your opposition attempts.

Take care of the basketball - win the turnover margin statistic every game.
