Title: A message from my son
Post by: pitz on March 02, 2007, 11:20:54 PM
Just would like to pass on some thoughts from my son
He is slightly overwhelmed by the uproar this headdress has caused.
While he is upset and believes he should be able to wear it, he feels the game tomorrow and honoring the 77 team are of the utmost importance.
He is a stubborn Irish kid who has never backed down in a fight but to push this tomorrow is not what he wants to do.  He wasn't wearing it as a statement or to bring attention, he just loves the Warriors.
He loves Marquette (Went into great debt to go there) and this doesn't change that.
He is freezing outside right now with his brother and the other stalwarts of section 106.
So for tomorrow, lets cheer MU on to victory and
GO WARRIORS !

Pitz - God bless your son... he shows the spirit of a true warrior!!  It's unfortunate that he was put into this predicament by the University to "make the right decision" and to "not make a scene" but hopefully he can still enjoy the game tomorrow.

People are lined up ouside of the B.C. already?!?!   :o

FIRE UP MARQUETTE!!

The first students lined up across the street around 6:30. I made it at 8:30. My friend's shoes leaked through, so  I came back with him so he could change his socks. In my 5 minutes of warmth, I of course came here. As of 11:30, there were 25 students waiting. Sounds like a lot are showing up between 12 and 3.

Pitz...I've been there...I was kicked out of Schroeder (1/4 barrel & 1/2 barrel b4 MLK weekend) by Jim McMahon and I ended up being elected ASMU / MUSG VP, where I started the spirit committee (it later became SAB) - we spearheaded Midnight Madness, Gold T's and General Admission...all of this was done by hard work of ath dept folks like Chicos (and Hubbard, DJ, Kraiss, Hammer & TD) and the unending blessing of Mike Deane.  It's wierd but so many people don't realize that the gold T's were started by a Gold Deane's List T shirt Give away before the Thursday night 8:30pm ESPN game vs Louisville game (T sponsored by UPS) in 1997 and so many people don't realize it was that 1996-97 spirit committee that basically convinced Cords & co to go General Admission.

There are many people who need to be thanked for Gold Ts and Gen Ad but three of the biggest are:

Mike Deane, Kevin Weasler (ASMU / MUSG Pres 1996-1997) & Jamie Dyckes (chicos_bail_bonds)

Pitz---you and your son will always have the memories of going to the Hobby Lobby to pick out just the right feathers.  McMahon can't take away the time the two of you spent hot gluing cheap fabric, measuring the size of you son's head to ensure a tight fit, or the countless hours you and your son spent discuss new ways to honor Native Americans while 'beaddazzling' the headdress.

Keep fighting the good fight...

Some great ones have had conflicts with Residential Life ~ I was living in Tower as a Frosh in 1986 and I was kicked out prior to xmas break.  Rushed home to philly and intercepted the university probation letter prior to reaching my parents.   My mom didnt know until I graduated. I just told her that I preferred McCormick and was making a change.
