This has been mentioned but became official yesterday. I wonder if we stayed with these two for long or cooled earlier. There seems to be no doubt that they can play.
From CBSsports.com by Gary Parrish:
Louisville coach Rick Pitino announced Tuesday at his program's basketball tip-off luncheon that the NCAA has ruled Gorgui Dieng academically ineligible to compete as a freshman.
The development is the latest dose of bad news for the Cardinals.
It means Pitino won't have either of his top recruits from the Class of 2010 considering Justin Coleman has already been ruled academically ineligible. Coleman is now enrolled at Marshall. Scout.com ranked Coleman, a 6-foot-5 wing, as the 40th-best prospect in the Class of 2010. Dieng, a 6-10 center, was ranked 46th.
It seems likely that we cooled on Coleman, as you could see the academic issues a mile away. Dieng, on the other hand, was a total shock, as all reports were that he was a good student. I have very little doubt that Louisville simply beat us out for his services, as we were actively trying to sign him right before he chose UL.
