Let the curmudgeons go on incessantly on how embarrassing this is...

So glad they made it.
Somebody in Milwaukee, step up and bring an end to this.
Dahmer.

Well done tipster.

What a classy video
is that wilson @ 1:25?!! very smooth dunk...look forward to that guy!
Whew..."Marquette on Deadspin" could mean a lot of bad things.
This is pretty tame.
Very creative. Loved the guys playing along and the dunks.
I'm 22, and this is 8 different kinds of terrible and i hate it

False.
MU's twitter needs to stop whoring these guys. They need to disappear forever.
The only good thing is that it was published over the weekend so it won't get as many hits.

Thank God yes...it would be so embarrassing, I might get an email or two from a friend or colleague just tearing me apart. Can you imagine? Having to read a two line email from a buddy making fun of this? I can't. It would just be too much. Or a recruit might see this and be like, "I will never go there, that school is lame, and filled with nerdy dorks". Seriously folks, somebody do something about this. Right now.
Its a funny comparison, looking at who thinks that these dorks do or don't hurt the image of the university in any way and those that think this message board does or does not hurt the image of the university in any way.
Could rival Drake's "D+" in the category of "'Good' Press Gone Bad"
Ahhh...anyone else remember when deadspin used to be...you know...funny?
That was quite possibly the most homoerotic video since the volleyball scene in Top Gun.
You want to criticize then do something better. I get tired of how people jump on others here. This is supposed to be about Marquette basketball not shut-ins criticizing the littlest thing someone says. And.. who looks for homoerotic substance in videos?

It's already started...a bunch of emails tonight so far from colleagues trashing MU based on that video. Can't wait for work tomorrow, hopefully it's moved down considerably on the Deadspin site to not be noticed.
Fight the good fight Chicos... ::)

Nothing to defend....you just take your blows on this one and chalk it up to today's youth. :D
I'm with elephantraker. Give these guys a break. I also like how the team is participating. Plus my 16 year old & her friends liked it.
I couldn't disagree more with the "if you don't like it you should do something better" argument. If people want public attention for music or whatever they do, they open themselves up to criticism. Its not like we are getting on their case for practicing in their rooms or just doing something they love. They actively seek out attention for putting their product out there. It's not like they are providing some service that Marquette basketball would be injured by not having.
The Ballplayers appear to have enjoyed it. Why not let it be?
None of the stuff that comes on here would "injure the team" if it didn't get produced.
I must have slept through that class in Logic 101, although it wouldn't have been the first time.
How many days until Midnight Madness?

I didn't see anything homoerotic in the video. Oh wait, that was just you trying to say you didn't like it and not being able to come up with anything more creative than calling it gay. I get it. Yeah, that wasn't funny.
I mean, its a video of D-Wade hanging out with current students and the players goofing off with the student body. It's actually kind of cool. It's not an official MU video anything like that. The players did not likely seek this out or anything.
It's not cocky like the Superbowl Shuffle. It's silly. Since it is silly, it is easy to make fun of for sure though. I just don't think its a big deal at all. When we lose teams are not going to be playing that video.
It's just young kids screwing around with a lead in from one of the best players on the planet.

I'll say this, I appreciate the effort and the enthusiasm. Personally, not my thing but this kind of stuff is going to have some that like it and others that don't. The nature of art \ music \ creative license.

Well, it is shot in the practice gym and involves members of the team and and Wade, so I'm thinking the athletic department either signed off on or arranged all of that.
It might not have the official MU stamp on it, but it's about as close to official as you can get other wise.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this on the video board at the BC this season.
These guys have a right to have fun, make boy band-ish music, support MU hoops and even convince as many people as possible (including the university) that they represent an authentic or tongue-in-cheek take on Marquette. And, based on the access they're being granted (players, facilities), one assumes they've done a great job of convincing the university that they're genuine, passionate and cool.
It's up to the university to manage it's brand. Do these guys make Marquette cooler, more contemporary, more relevant? Not so sure but no one nominated me the arbiter of cool.
I don't personally care for what these guys do but don't think it'd be wise for MU to either squash user-generated content (wouldn't work anyhow) or go too far towards giving them more access or resources to promote soft harmonizing as the soundtrack of Marquette life.

This is all that matters. This is what it's all about. Getting kids to apply to the university and get pumped up for MU's basketball team.
Do I like the video? Who cares, I'm an old fart that spends all of his time on the internet criticizing people's grammar and laughing at funny cat pictures. I'm probably not their target audience.

To a song called "All We Do is Win"?
I am convinced that whoever gives these guys all this access also thought Marquette Gold was a great idea.

I found this on SI's extra mustard from Fridays edition. Its is from three Oregon students and is entitled "I Love My Ducks".

I am curious, based on the opinions of those on this board, how this video compares to Spanish O'Donnells.
In my opinion, this video is pretty good. I think their writting is better than the O'D's de espanol.
Thoughts?

Much better than the OD's. From the video quality, to the sound quality and definitely the writing. I don't mind Marquette "pimping" the OD's as long as the quality of their work gets better.

It also didn't hurt that their cheerleaders are hot.
The Oregon video is slightly better, but not much. I think both groups are trying way too hard to go viral. Also, when did white kids give up on guitar?
So true about the Oregon cheerleaders too.
Though I'm not exactly happy that they decided to write an article about something they hate about Marquette, I'm glad they decided on writing it about something that I also hate.

Could be worse, they could be using a guitar
