"Miss. SG will visit Marquette this weekend
September 29, 2010
According to sources, ESPNU 100 shooting guard Rodney Hood will take an official visit to Marquette this weekend (Oct. 1).
The 4-star native of Meridian, Miss. is also considering Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, UCLA, and Louisville."
This is great news. As I previously stated, just because we don't have blogs specifically following our recruiting and posting articles that spin things in our favor doesn't mean we are out of the running for kids. Some of the pessimists here were so quick to dismiss our chances with Hood, even though he just had an in-home with Buzz a couple weeks ago and we have been on him for a very long time.
Interesting that they describe him as a shooting guard, even though he is 6'7/6'8. Now that would be a mismatch.
Heres hoping for a great visit this weekend. Some nice weather couldn't hurt.

5-star on Rivals.
What a replacement for Jimmy this guy could be.
Good Milwaukee fall weather as well: http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/USWI0455
Louisville got another commit today Angel Nunez also a SF. Is Lville moving on from some of the players or are they getting ready for a huge class? i saw this tweet from evan daniels "They have 4 verbals and may take up to 6 RT @ukwildcats11: Does Louisville have unlimited scholarships in 2011?"

I don't think Pitino is afraid of Newbill-ing guys

Louisville actually has 5 verbals for 2011, unless Scout and ESPN are wrong and missing something about one of their recruits. Their board is not too excited, thinking this means they won't get Miller. I guess we'll see.
Hypothetical, what if Miller, Bello, and Wroten all tell Pitino they want to come to Louisville? He'd have to tear apart the roster, but he'd find the room.
Watch for Rodney at Murphy's......
OMG. Has he committed? Stop sabotaging!
"All Good in the Hood" in Milwaukee may have a different meaning soon...
Have we heard anything about his visit? This one has been awefully quiet.......
I happened to be in Meridian, MS on business Thursday and mentioned I'd seen he had listed Marquette as one of many to a couple of graduates of his high school. No basketball connection, they just still go to games. They both said he was from a great family and very respected ... basically sounded like our kind of player if he really has interest. Hope the visit went well.
Anyone hear how the visit went? It'd be nice to push that first domino over!

The correct term for Louisville is to get "Porcini'd"
Talk on the scout board is that Hood has narrowed his list to 3 schools, and that a decision is coming soon. Marquette is one of the schools, as well as Louisville. Seems that Florida State is likely the other. Hood was in Louisville this weekend, fwiw.
Hood wants to find that comfortable fit. Perhaps Pitino is charasmatic in person, but from afar I don't know how anybody can trust him. I'm sure BW's philosophy and honesty would make any recruit feel comfortable. IMO if this kid is from a great family, has a support system that keeps him grounded, and is willing to work his a$$ off, then MU will be a great fit.
I"m just grateful that MU is pursuing talented kids with seemingly great character

And that's the perplexing part...as to why Louisville is after him. ;)

I was reading the Louisville board to try to guage their feeling on Hood's visit. It made me laugh how they were trying to paint themselves as some bastion of morality and academics in the college basketball world. Only in a bizzarro world is a team coached by Rick Pitino the good guy.

The huge advantage that Louisville has when deluding itself is that the first school that they compare themselves to is Kentucky. It's kind of hard to not feel good about your program when you compare yourself to UK.
GTown was trying to get Hood to their Midnight Madness: http://hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=recruit&action=display&thread=22367&page=4
They do acknowledge Hood's final 3 of MU, Louisville, and FSU.
If Pitino is going to oversign by that much, he probably would do it for Miller and Bello. If he takes Hood, that puts him at 5 verbals and Miller and Bello puts him at 7.
Hopefully MU can win this recruiting battle with FSU unlike the Snaer recruitment. We can't lose a 5-star to FSU every other year and hopefully Hood will see the PT available at MU with Jimmy leaving.

Dick Vitale trusts Pitino--he is always hooting his horn about his butt boy Pitino/or vice versa
Hood was scheduled to come to our midnight madness, but now there's talk that he may decide this week and not make the visit, which sucks for us. Usually when a recruit agrees to go to a midnight madness and isn't local it's an indication he really likes that school and is seriously considering them and is usually a bigger deal than a regular official visit. I guess Hood doesn't recognize the importance of a midnight madness visit. >:( I'm hoping he decides to still come and we can sway him to seriously consider us. But right now I don't think he's coming.

When you say "us" you mean Georgetown, not MU, correct?
Nothing really new, but looks like he may decide next week.

Why would you guys even need Hood for, you already have Aaron Bowen.
Aaron's more of a 2 and I see Hood as more of a 3.
That being said I was pleasantly surprised by bowen during summer league. Kid can flat out play. He's going to be a real good player. Might not get a lot of playing time this year with wright, freeman, and clark, but he'll be a key piece in 11-12.
