Still very early for a 2013, but he's ranked 4th on ESPN, 3rd on Scout, and 2nd on Rivals. Glad to hear us in the mix, and hopefully we stay on that list as it continues to narrow down.
His stepfather/AAU coach is a huge Duke fan and Rodney grew up a UNC fan......gonna be tough to get Rodney out of the state of NC.....meanwhile he'll enjoy his recruitment tour....
That said, it IS really nice to see our name mentioned on so many truly elite recruits' lists....

We are in on a lot of fantastic, quality recruits. More so than I can remember in the past, but if Buzz can do this in two years coaching at MU, imagine what he can do after a longer, successful track record. We will start landing some, and that may start now (hope hope). Go Marquette!
Word is Cody Zeller is going to committ to IU very shortly. He has scheduled visits to NC and Butler, but IU is the leader by a longshot. This comes from a very solid source.

I certainly understand that sentiment and the frustration of being in the mix without getting a highly sought after guy. I can't imagine how deflating that is for the coaches. However, to me what it shows that we are in the mix on so many higher tier guys is that we are now considered an elite program. Even just several years ago, I think many top guys would consider MU beneath them and not even consider MU. We are clearly now in the mix of schools that top guys will seriously consider, and I have to think we start landing some of these guys as we continue to be successful on the court.

I would hope the flagship school of a state like Indiana could start to land some of the state's top kids. Seeing the top talent of the state go elsewhere the last 5+ years has to have been frustrating.

Ners, I agree with you. Tom Crean has done a good job of turning the program around in the short time he has been there. With the recruits coming in, the program appears to be on its way to where it should be. Not an easy task with the success that Butler and Purdue have had the last couple of years.

Longshot? Hmm. Maybe, but I wouldn't go that far. It would certainly be a huge get for them, one of those anchor type recruits.

I'll readily admit that the short term challeges Tom Crean faced upon his arrival at IU were daunting, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that taking a team that was 14-4 in conference the year prior to your arrival to 4-14 two years later constitutes confirmation of "turning a program around".

You are right, the record doesn't necessarily reflect a complete turn around. They have a long ways to go. But take a few seconds to look beyond the record. They may have been 14-4 in Sampson's last season but the program was falling apart and was on a downward spiral. This is what was going on during that 14-4 season:
Oct. 3, 2007: IU self-reports to the NCAA that Sampson and his staff made more than 100 recruiting calls in violation of restrictions dating to his Oklahoma violations. IU imposes three penalties: Sampson's forfeiture of a $500,000 scheduled raise, the loss of one scholarship and further recruiting restrictions.
Feb. 13, 2008: The NCAA announces five potential "major" violations against IU, including an allegation that Sampson "knowingly" took part in impermissible three-way recruiting calls and then "repeatedly" lied about it to school and NCAA investigators. IU president Michael McRobbie gives the athletic department seven days to evaluate the NCAA's charges and make a recommendation.
Feb. 22, 2008: Kelvin Sampson accepts $750,000 buyout and resigns as head coach at IU.
